Hi Ryan, I've been getting to grips with Bet Angel Professional software for the past few days. Peter Webb is a very intelligent sports trader and he sounds like an absolute gentleman. So, I've had great fun trading horse racing for very small stakes; I realise that atm I have zero knowledge about that market and will reframe from trading it for the time being. So soccer trading is where I'm going to cut my teeth, most likely laying the draw (where is that market found on betfair? what's it called?) and the over/under 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 markets. I'm tinkering with soccer mystic on Bet Angel Professional to learn as much as possible. I know Martin doesn't trade the football markets after a big international event (world cup), but with the small stakes that I'm using, I'll pick 5 markets to trade on (5 little pinkies on each hand are easy to count - lol) so that I can get a feel for trading.
Merry Christmas to you and your young families, Keith and Ryan.

    Hi Ryan / Martin,

Really looking forward to see where this goes.

In terms of which sport to trade, because there is so much information out there now on Betfair trading its been a bit of a mine field so I'm not really sure is the answer. I did start last night with the "new members start here" thread and that's been brilliant I actually feel like I have a direction now. I wrote down were I am as a trader, my bankroll I even have a football strategy that id been thinking about for ages and now I've actually written it down and given it rules. Cant wait for part 2 and 3 tonight.

So actually I guess football trading is the way forward for now seeing as my time is limited and you guys have developed set and forget and automated strategies.

Interesting about the Match betting Martin wonder how that will develop overtime.

Thanks for the link to the blog ill give that a read.

    Andrew

@alex-rule trading can give you all those things! It’s great that it’s tax free too and can be done anywhere šŸ™‚ even better with automation!

Exactly that you can get so far on your own but being around top traders is always better isn’t it!

@tony-darbyshire Well its a warm welcome from me.

Love this write up, I think the older guys would spot that they did the same mistakes.

We are all on the same path and here we know that and help each other.

What do you want to get out of BTC in the next 90 days?

Also what made you finally take the plunge to join?

You have a nice way of writing as well, you will fit in well here. We've found the guys and gals who get stuck in to the community always do well as they get chatting to people and like you say make friends.

But they also pick things up to help.

@martin Thanks Martin. I'm going to continue making my way through the academy and I'll reach out if I have any questions. If you see this Ryan, its got to be the most frustrating game in the world but keep at it. I read the email today about golf and trading, I liked the comparison. If you can turn me into a pro trader maybe I can turn you into a pro golfer....or maybe not haha?

@wayne-thomas you get top marks from me, the guys who make it all do the things you are doing - which is actually doing the work!

It helps if you like the work too though!

Same I know ZERO about it, want to drink nice wine so it helps having some guys here who know what they are talking about!

@donatas-fabijonavicius Welcome to the group, great to have you here.

I think I can help, Martin put together these really good videos to get started with the horse software.

    https://forum.betfairtradingcommunity.com/topic/3620/horse-racing-basic-training-software-instructions-guide

I'd recommend going through them and they'll hopefully help clear up and get you firing with the software.

    @richard

Yeh it's a bit surprising isnt it when you play by their rules then they come along and say yeh you are banned, because we said so lol.

It sounds as though you were spotting over priced horses in the morning backing them to win? But a fair few times they were coming in before the event? (if so thats gold for Betfair, you could back them on the exchange and then trade out before the event by laying it).

I noted as well you asked about covering the subs, I'd aim to try and see the subs and the community as an investment in your education of trading first.

Work through the videos here: https://forum.betfairtradingcommunity.com/category/10/new-members-start-here

Then the goal is to move through the levels to the point where you want to be, those levels are:

    5 Level Framework

    Level 1
    Goal - First profitable trade
    Skills required
    Mindset required

    Level 2
Goal - First profitable day trading
    Skills required
    Mindset required

    Level 3
    Goal - First profitable month
    Skills required
    Mindset required

    Level 4
Goal - Consistently profitable - Part time level - £1K
    Skills required
    Mindset required

    Level 5
    Goal - Full time trading
    Skills required
    Mindset required

As it happens just outside of Chester. I'm a bit biased but I like it as a place to live....

So far I've found answers to most of my questions around staking on the forum or the most recent profit. As fate would have it the set and forget I started with was laying under 1.5 and wouldn't you know uts the latest YouTube video!

Slow and steady seems the best way as I'm pretty risk adverse by nature and when the plan is long term doesn't seem much reason to rush things
