New Member…Tony Darbyshire (aka Darbs)

Hello to all who drop by and read this.
Joined btc on 25 Nov. ‘22. Ex-RN (long time ago now) but was known as ‘Darbs’ (Everyone in the navy had a nickname. Not easy in my case, unlike lots of other surnames which are easily recognised. e.g. those with the name ‘Miller’ were called ‘Dusty’. My nickname is a simple shortening of my surname.)
So, Tony or ‘Darbs’ will do for me!
I’ve never been a gambler but got into matched betting a couple of years ago. Did quite well but eventually ran out of accounts! (As most do but some seem able to keep on going for longer. Never got into the casino scene but maybe I should have?)
I found Ryan/Martin and Co. on youtube and learned a few things. Sadly, not enough to make me a profitable trader.
To be frank, I’ve not found ‘trading’ on Betfair to be easy. At times I’ve taken more risks than I should. And I know that some more experienced folk on btc would keel-haul me for doing so! I’ll also admit to losing money and not making it. So that needs to change, as of now.
The time has come to stop messing with Betfair and to learn from others who’ve been there and ended up with the tee-shirt that has the slogans (back and front) “Gambling Is For Mugs” and “Traders Make Money!”
A bit about me: married, and have a wife who is extremely bright who hates sport of all kinds. Three great children, all well grown up, and they’ve been fortunate to inherit their mum’s brain cells, and all of three now teach me stuff! (Oh yes, and four lovely grandchildren too.)
A clue to my age (easy to find now due to the brilliance of search engines) I celebrated my 14th birthday on the day the first human went into space. If you choose to reply, I do expect you to provide me with, a) his name, and b) the full disclosure of my birthday year, with the day and month!
I’ll leave you with (one) of my favourite quotes…
“A Stranger Is A Friend I’ve Yet To Meet”
…so hello all strangers whom I look forward to making ‘friends’ with.
Thanks for reading this far if you didn’t give up and move on to something more interesting.
Let’s hope my sojourn into btc can help me make new friends whom I can both learn from and support in whatever way I can.

@tony-darbyshire Well its a warm welcome from me.
Love this write up, I think the older guys would spot that they did the same mistakes.
We are all on the same path and here we know that and help each other.
What do you want to get out of BTC in the next 90 days?
Also what made you finally take the plunge to join?
You have a nice way of writing as well, you will fit in well here. We've found the guys and gals who get stuck in to the community always do well as they get chatting to people and like you say make friends.
But they also pick things up to help.

@tony-darbyshire welcome!
Thanks for the introduction enjoyed reading this.
I think those slogans could be used for @Ryan's shirts or how about 'Gambling is for mugs' on a mug!
What have you been trading on so far?
