@Martin I have to admit that I am terrible with smaller stakes, I really struggle to think of things as a percentage gain and often find if using smaller stakes I can be quite reckless with it. I've found that I trade better when using stakes I feel a little uncomfortable with as it introduces a natural filter within me (not always I have to add here) to think before placing a trade. Obviously I wouldn't recommend this but it did help me, as I'm a lot more protective of my bank and also I find that if I am using a cash out strategy I will cash out a lot sooner than I would using small stakes as I can see value in cashing out in monetary value rather than percentage.

@steve-sandell really good post mate, one of the most important things is to stake appropriately, if youโre comfortable with your stake, or potential loss as itโs probably better referred as then you are going to act comfortable and appropriately
spot on, interestingly if it's a totally meaningless amount to you you may also trade badly, thinking you don't really care about the money. you have to find the right balance and ideally the right amount for your specific bankroll and still treat even ยฃ2 trades like they matter.

Thought i would write a bit about my mindset and discipline
2 years ago it was all over the place and couldnt see the way forward. I use to lay teams, unders etc at odds of 3 and crap my self with the liability you could see on the screen and if it lost it would be the end of the world mentally. Spring forward to present day and i am now laying at 5 odds
How i got there was a slow process but worked for me. Firstly i sorted my bank out so the losses had minimal effect, then i gradually over time nudged the odds up, so i started at 3 then went to 3.2, 3.4 etc until i got to my level now. Also readjusted my stakes and stuck to it religiously, didnt matter what match it was or league and didnt give myself a time frame
Now present day when i do lose its 1 minute of disappointment but my bank can take it and move on to the next. Even my wife has seen a change in me which is always a positive
My biggest drawdown / losses in a row is 8 points so far on my SHG, even if it went to 12 my bank can take the hit
If people on here are in a similar boat then have a go at laying at small odds and hiking it up gradually worked for me. But your bank must be right for you and your staking to match
Look at me giving advice out (what the hell is going on). Ive read alot of posts on here and it helps enormously so keep them coming
If this helps one person move on to the next stage it was worth writing -

@steve-sandell I'd be carefull with South American games, Copa America starts this evening might be weakened teams
i just go with my data. imo there will always be something why not to do it. Keeping it simple
My past data doesnt tell me if a red card happened, who played, who didnt. Its just odds based
Like the Santos game my data gave it a 4% chance of a 0-0, these things happen once in a while. Santos dominated the game with possession and shots but didnt happen. On to the next -
@steve-sandell Not to mention the poor people in Brazil and Argentina in particular are suffering the effects of Covid on a huge scale at the moment
