Me and my son play Star Wars Armada on tabletop. Bloody love it.
Is that Star Wars X-wing but with capital ships involved?
Oh yes
Does it work well with the capital ships? I played loads of X-wing when it came out.
It does. Better with more capital ships and the squadrons of fighters are a great addition as well. I’ve got a nice collection. Not bought a super star destroyer yet but it’s on the list

I feel like we now need a new thread.
Something like 'Geeks Paradise'

Tainted Grail
My best mate came round with Moonstone: The Game last week, great game, plays really well with very few rules.
iF you want to go more geek Deadzone is a simple but complex sci-fi game.
Nice one can you play it solo? I’m all about solo gaming!
Just bought Sleeping Gods, Tainted Grail and Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion also late pledged for ISS Vanguard. Eyeing up Oathsworn, Robomon or Arydia if I save up some Christmas money!

@john-folan There was so much Star Wars stuff at Comic Con and I kept thinking "I know John mentioned this on the forum"
I’m going to Star Wars Celebration next year. Can’t wait.

@dan-mackinnon I LOVED Crash as a kid!!! I bought the remastered one for switch lol
-
@dan-mackinnon much cheaper than the one I looked at, think I was looked at close to £200!
Nice one I’m really into table top gaming at the moment, actually got a table set up with a game that I leave out
If they have retro gaming stuff that’s my bag too.
Do you get to meet and greet with any of the guests?
-
@martin there’s loads of stalls selling stuff which sounds a bit boring but it definitely gets the nostalgia going.
There’s usually guests which could be actors, etc. They have different stages which have events on, so some might be interviews with guests or live shows of famous podcasts.
The bit I enjoyed the most was the video game section. They have old consoles and games so got to relive my younger days playing Medal of Honour, Crash Bandicoot and Gran Turismo. There’s also table top games and software developers demoing new games.
It’s basically a nerdy festival where 90% of the people are in fancy dress. A few R2-D2s rolling around, and people are always friendly to talk and take photos.
I don’t know how much it would usually cost but our weekend one was under £50 for 3 days. If I compared it to going to a football away day which I almost did on the Saturday, that would have been £30 to see us lose 1-0 so it seems like value. I think if you’ve got someone who will also enjoy the nostalgia it’s worth a day visit.
-
@dan-mackinnon what do you do at them? Got invited to Manchester one but they seem expensive and not sure what you get for the money. Love geeky stuff tho!
-
@dan-mackinnon That sounds loads of fun!

I went to Birmingham Comic Con this weekend. My partner is more into that stuff than I am, but it’s a really good day out if anyone has thought of going. Even if, like me, you don’t know the vast majority of the stuff there, it’s a decent atmosphere.
My highlight was having a photo with a brummie stormtrooper!
