Fairbot Automation Discussion

Hello all. Thanks for the help on here, I wouldn't know where to begin otherwise.
I've imported the shared bots from this thread for the main horse racing strategies' into my fairbot. Il have a play running them properly tomorrow. Just noticed a problem with C and D, flat pace backs and lay beaten fav and pace lay bots. The back fav and lay fav appear to be working ok in simulation mode.
Any ideas about the error message and how it can be fixed, the bots are not working. All conditions are unedited from the downloads from this thread.
all show the same error message below.
Thanks in advance

@steven-fletcher I have been working my way through youtube for fairbot help and I see Alistair Hamilton comes up a lot. The stuff ive watched so fair has halped me but im a super beginner and just trying to understand how fairbot works at this stage.
-
@andy-lucy Ok cool, thanks.
Yeh i was just trading football until world cup. Been slim picking since so looking into the horses. Football strategies have not been performing of late either.
Time wise plus doubt in your mind laying the favourite or backing the favourite in a huge race scared me off some of the strategies. So was just laying beaten favourite's and pace lays, had a boxing day shocker. So taken a step back but seen that long term if you stick with it its ok. I need to let the bots do their things, its too emotional dealing with a big loss. Need smaller stakes on every trade available via bot vs bigger stakes only when I have time.If i can, will get the 6 horse strategies that come on the daily email automated and running everyday, then can start to look into it in more detail and refine them further

@dan-mackinnon thanks, will have a look at this one as automation has brought to my attention sports id never have dreamed of trying to trade before like cricket and tennis......only running them in simulation but interesting to learn how rules work
might have a look on YouTube as well as I'm sure Alistair Hamilton has a load of tennis videos

@chris-osborne I had something similar which is why I kept putting automation off. You want to use automation to give you more free time, but don't have the free time to learn how to use it!
I've created a test bot based on what you've said. I haven't tried it yet but hopefully it'll work

@dan-mackinnon Tennis season starts this weekend going to try and automate Ryan's 4-4 first set lay strategy
What are the rules for this? We can see if anyone else wants to have a go at making the bot. Group project
I did have a go at a strategy for this a while ago as I wanted to check out the Tennis conditions in Fairbot. However I've never used it but if someone has the trading rules I can take another look as my Fairbot knowledge is hopefully better now
This is my interpretation of the following
https://betfairtradingcommunity.com/en/trading-strategies/tight-first-set
Pre Match favourite Below 1.4
1st Set goes with serve until 4-4
Lay Favourite
Exit at end of 1st setIf favourite wins the set liability will be low if underdog wins then we will profit
Tennis isn't really ideal for set and forget strategies but this is one that could have potential as liabiliity is low
Occupational hazard, I'm up to my neck in it work wise right now and will be for a couple of weeks but one of my goals for this year is to become an automation expert!

@dan-mackinnon Yes, do we have some details about the automation strategy on fairbot?

@dan-mackinnon was having a look through the C&D rule that is in the pinned post and it looks like there is an inconsistency
There are three selections however on selection 1 the relative odds condition is looking at the position by back odds to get the three favourites however in selections 2 and 3 the final relative odds condition is by Betfair row 3
I've amended this and saved it below as my understanding is that all the selections should be checking against the top three in the odds.

Thanks @Steven-Fletcher , good spot of my error. It shows the benefit of a second pair of eyes and people making sure theyre comfortable with a strategy before using.

Nice one! I've updated the OP

@panagiotis I am trying to set up a few strategies on one master automation rule list so I can use as many/or as few of them as I need on that particular race. I am trying to get one set up for football and one for horse racing. New to this as well but think if you read through the whole of this thread it will give you all the info and a good understanding of how to set it all up. Thanks to everyone who contributed I found it very helpful.
Update, just been playing with my Horse Racing one and it seems okay as long as what I am backing and laying is "unknown" (at runtime) otherwise trades will kick in if you use anything else (I think) testing again tomorrow lol.
-
@fraser-cord yes it does only work while computer on I believe hence why I am doing same. Just makes sense. R u trading the strats on here? Good luck with it all I will be about next couple days hopefully if u need any help if i can as a novice lol I will.

@dan-mackinnon So, i purchase the VPS and i access it remotely from my laptop and through VPS i access my fairbot. I will set up my strategies and turn off my laptop. The fairbot will still running because is connected with the VPS, right?
-
@panagiotis it's basically a virtual server which is left on. There are a few websites which do this, I know a couple have already been mentioned below. I use Time4VPS, I think EUKHost is another one people on here use.
You'll need a remote access to log in and you can set up your fairbot and trades from there. Because it's a virtual server you can shut your laptop off and the server will keep running wherever it is.
I'm not very technical and rubbish with IT so you might need to look online but hopefully that's helped.
-
@dan-mackinnon Hello!
Which is the exact process of VPS. I want to purchase one and then?
I will run it from laptop or phone?
If from laptop how will keep running if i will turn off ?COuld you tell me the exact process?
-
@andy-lucy Excellent, thanks. Yeh i did all my prep over xmas, ready to plough in on boxing day and spent 4 hours losing money. Clearly not what i wanted.
But have studied the stats since and looks like i chose the wrong day to begin.
Cool il get fairbot on the go once the inlaws leave. Like you, il need to set it all in the morning before work. So Id need to get VPS to avoid leaving the computer on all day as the bot only works while computer is on?
Appreciate your help, cheers.

@daniel-mills thanks will have a look over next day or 2

This is what I went for, it's about £12 a month. I think if you use the referral link below you should get a little bit off your first month too(I signed up through a referral originally):
https://portal.hostworld.uk/aff.php?aff=55
It's running Windows standard 2012, seems to be enough to run some python stuff, betfair bot manager and a couple of google sheets in chrome without any problems whatsoever.
