I appreciate that the closer to kick off the better, but what is the upper limit that you would place a trade before kick off? Thanks
I should add the only other consideration is the liquidity in the market getting better as you get closer so that will depend on your stake levels obviously

The market can move in any direction Joe at any time, and you only know which way in hindsight.
So some trades would have been better placed earlier some last minute, and you're not going to know until later.
They'll even themselves out over the long term. So as others have eluded to, put them on when convenient to you. -
@nick-allan let me know what you find out, my next big update will be during the World Cup, will actually have a fair amount of data on Euro leagues as got a few months from last season too.
-
@martin im going to look into this more over the WC break and make a decision on trading them in the future., lots of work for very little back, sundays i prefer, i also love doing the research on a sunday morning with the politics shows

@joe-beeston Whatever is convenient really as that’s one of the key benefits behind set and forget! I tend to do mine at 4am as that’s before I go to work but on days off it may be 10am. Over the course off 100’s of bets then I think the small differences will even themselves out
I’m the same as Lee will post them before work so anytime before 9 if wfh and before 7 if I’m the office.
I’ve also placed the night before on occasions as set and forget

Hi,
Probably me not explaining myself correctly.
For example, if a match kicks off at 12:30pm, how early would you place your set and forget bets?
I appreciate that the closer to 12:30 the better, but is there a timeframe that is acceptable. For example within 2 hours/4 hours etc?
Hopefully that is a bit better question...my bad on the previous one
-
@joe-beeston not sure I understand the q

@martin I would often find that to be the case aswell, but i think the winter leagues are worse for it than the summer leagues. One reason could be that the saturday games for a lot of leagues are just run-of-the-mill games whereas sunday games tend to be televised so perhaps there's a little more motivation....just a theory obviously!
I havent checked the data to back this up, perhaps its something for me to check at some point
-
@lee-woodman I want more data on mine as they are still all less than a year old but I do feel that is the conclusion I will also come to! How have you found Sat vs Sun in general? I always seem to do well on a Sunday on average compared with Saturday
-
@martin said in Set & Forget Football Strategies - Community Collaboration Project:
When I’ve got the data for a few months it will be interesting to see how UK games hold up. I’m very weary of them as I think our leagues have always been a bit more wildly unpredictable. Especially for some reason the 3pm Saturday kick offs.
Ive checked loads of data on numerous strategies over several years and ive always found that to be the case with the UK leagues. I very rarely include them on any strategy as a result. And like you, the 3pm saturday games seem to be worse

U1.5 lays took a beating today
Yes they did probably inevitable there would be some regression at some point but pretty brutal

7 goals might be justification for why the price never dropped under 3.5
-
@matt-ayles said in Set & Forget Football Strategies - Community Collaboration Project:
@martin fair enough.
Todays selection went unmatched but there were 3 first half goals so that's a shame!
I'm avoiding China due to the season disruption due to covid, maybe it's ok now but will leave it for time being

I had those selections too and managed to get matched at 3.5 pre kick off, so suffered the same losers...
@Martin at what point pre match do you determine the odds are qualifying or not? I plugged them all in before work, and any that were higher than 3.5 i just asked for 3.5 knowing they'd lapse if unmatched, but all bar 1 got matched before their respective kick offs... given the lack of liquidity in the market early in the morning i assumed that was why the odds were so high?
when I look in the morning
