Laying The Draw (LTD)
-
Hi Folks
Did some reevaluation of my trading selection over the weekend and have come to the conclusion that the trades I am going to focus on are the following, they are in Football, ny strong subject
They will be LTD and Under 2.5 Goals, as from observations made, this seems to have a lot of liquidity in the market.
I have a list of matches in the LTD sector which I shall back up with research, the scorelines I am looking for are 1-1
My question is this do I go in at 2.0 or just under to Lay or go in a bit higher, having watched a video with Martin it seemed he went in at around 4.
The same applies to the 2.5 Goals market, do I lay at odds of 2.0 or lower
Can I also do this Pre Match or does it need to be done I/P
I'm looking for advice really
TIA

@dave-hayes i started with Late goals, iv moved my trading from an inplay trader to a more set and forget approach. Even as a profitable trader im still always adapting to what suits me best and working out a way to make everything as simple and repeatable as possible. Nothing worse than getting into a strat that requires too much thinking as thats when mistakes can eat into your P/L.
Its all in what suits you best. If ltd is your focus work out if you want a set approach or a inplay trade out approach. This will be different for everyone and there is no magic yes/no to this. The proof is in how you want to trade it and then that being backed up by data/proven track record of winning. So for the next 3-4 months paper trade these, with no money on. In 3-4 months come back to this post and youll have amassed a good data set to decide what is and is not working. Tracking and then improving is what changes a trader from beginner to profitable fastest. Iv yet to meet a trader iv helped that hasnt made that part work. The ones that dont tend to struggle.
If you need help you have me and other good traders on here to help.

@Darri Brilliant!. Okay, as you seem to have documented your progress and are happy to advise, then I will start with what you did. When I start something I like to follow someone who is successfull, you clearly are : )
So, I shall start with LTD, that is my 1st strategy, didn't seem to have done too badly for you, looking at your blog

@dave-hayes not all advice is good advice, youll not be upsetting anyone, use the forum to improve your trading, dont care too much about accepting others advice only take it if you can see merit in it. Very few people are long term profitable, for me i believe thats because as men we are typically stubborn and dont listen at times, trust me im bad at that, hopefully each new member that comes on that gets the help they need to we can add to that slowly. Generally the advice is good but just make sure it fits our mindset.
Best thing for you to do now is to forget about any pre conceived ideas of win rates etc and just start tracking a filter/strategy. From there tweak and improve to suit you. Its easy to want an 80% win rate but is that profitable, what odds do you get with that, is my wins greater than losses. All those questions need asked first.
If you put in the effort to track something without putting money to it, in the next 3-4 months youll be onto something very lucrative in trading that around 5% of people ever achieve, PROFIT. Its the graft you put in now that will get you to profit faster. Keep your hands clean right now by just doing the proven strats and build that bank up.

@Darri Thanks for the advice, I'm not looking to upset people who have already given me brilliant advice, because its been really helpful and I will be following your advice to pick one strategy, which for me will be LTD.
While I know that not all trades are going to be profitable, what I am looking to do is find one which gives a better than average chance of being profitable 80% of the time, which is why LTD appeals.
As you say its a good starting point ot follow BTC selections which are proven and tested. I shall follow that
Thanks for the help, it is like being a kid in a sweetshop at times

Just for the future as im sure more questions will need answered pop them on here if its a general question :
https://forum.betfairtradingcommunity.com/topic/648/trading-q-and-a-megathread-ask-us-anythingAnd here if its for football:
https://forum.betfairtradingcommunity.com/topic/1700/the-btc-football-trading-threadSaves you creating a new thread whenever you want to ask a question.
In terms of the question, you really need to go find out what you prefer. Your without past data looking to trade 2 strategies that you dont yet know how to trade efficiently with yet, which scares me. We chatted the other day about looking to just pick one thing to follow on here and in the background track a strategy you want to trade in future. Coming into this trying to do well in 2 strats from scratch is gonna be a tough task. Id stick with btc selections and other members strats while you learn. You have now tried a few strats based on this forum, its time now to pick your favourite and really start tracking your own version of it and settle down with trading a bit. Chris gave you a great answer on the weekly wins page, no need to be looking to jump on everything just find what is good for you. Having football knowledge doesnt mean its right for you because it leads us to think we can trade anything. Just trade a already proven system and selections and in background track your own, this is the only way youll be able to answer your own questions about how to properly trade. Hope this helps.
