Another good result. Thanks again Stuart.

@stuart-capstick exactly that. Will be interesting to see how long before historic clubs catch up with the proper way of doing things because the combination of new principles and history will be dramatic. So Stockport, Wrexham .. the actors have an ex Liverpool CEO advising them (wrong manager at present but they will sort that out) - see the progress Lincoln have made as an example (which was a combination of the Cowley brothers and new investors)
-
Something like how Red Bull took over Leipzig? Previously, they had been Sachsen Leipzig- bunch of also-rans. Then with RB's investment they rose from the Oberliga (the German equivalent of the National League) to the Bundesliga.
-
@stuart-capstick no ignorance .. indeed its a really interesting time because theres a change in the world of football which will only be really apparent in the next few years. That is that clubs without any particular history are being bought by individuals who traditionally would have invested at a higher level, but are displaced by foreign investment, and rather than buying a club with 100 years of history but millions of pounds of debt, they are spending those millions on stadiums and proper infra structure. So whilst if you're at a Hartlepool for example you are slated by the fans for being beaten by say Salford.. the fans will call them a pub team, the reality is there budget is double. Add to that some of the ways these clubs are being run is a lesson to many clubs with more history .. their is a change of the guard taking place ..Boreham Wood and Harrogate have brilliant business models, Salford and Forest Green have crazy investment. Stockport are now one to watch because they have the historic following plus "proper" owners who will do things the right way. Hartlepool - who by the way have one of the best managers in the lower leagues, lost out on players because Spennymoor were offering more money etc etc.. I know I'm rambling but I think theres opportunity from a trading perspective in putting aside the established perceptions
-
I always thought they were semi pros. Had no idea of the size of their budgets. Thanks for lifting me out of my fog of ignorance, Mark.
-
National League North and South are largely part time but some of the budgets would surprise you too
-
@stuart-capstick Interestingly Stuart as of last season only two teams in the National League were part time. That may have increased to 3 with Weymouth's promotion, but in general its a league where average playing budget is 750k plus and teams like Stockport, Wrexham will be working on budgets of very a million pounds. The managers convincing owners that the funding available in League Two is worth it.. the difference is circa 100k central funding in National League and 1.2 million in League Two. Salford got promoted with a budget of 1.7 million, Forest Green 2.5 million .. yes 2.5.. Plenty of the teams have proper coaching set ups, sports science etc so its a fairly serious league. The downside and a big factor is the travel .. distances between clubs are big and some of the clubs try and save on prep by travelling on the day etc. Without going in to too much detail this can be easier for Southern Clubs travelling north because you can easily get the train from London (players meet at the station) and get back in the evening but connections don't work in reverse so Northern based teams generally have to use a coach.. the next bit to see how this, if at all affects results
-
Hi Bernardo. Thanks for the tip.
I'm just cautious about part time players in the current COVID situation. But, you are right: the Eng National League has performed well lately.
Weymouth do look particularly useless as well!
-
@stuart-capstick Good Morning Stuart. I've been following this since beginning of Jan and must say that the results have been amazing. About the games today, there is also Weymouth Boreham, with Boreham currently at 1.97. I know that National League is not your favourite, but it has performed really well, at least for me, in January, 5 out 5. And coincidently (or not) of these 5 games in Jan, 3 of them had Weymouth at home. Maybe it is worth considering it today... Cheers!

Stuart, sorry if this has been covered before but why does the filter look for the away team with odds < 2 and not the home team? All things being equal, wouldn't there be more likelihood of a win if the home team was stronger? There is probably an obvious answer but I'm missing it.
Not my filter but plenty of home wins too on this, just not many draws. I was thinking about whether it could be tailored for an away backing strat. I think the best thing is just to leave as is and be thankful it was shared haha!
Home teams don't lose a lot when fave and perhaps that means more draws than otherwise.
Very thankful it was shared Richard, I wouldn't have known where to start!
