@eamonn-hogan
Good morning EAMONN
I have been following your diary and fair play it's a very open and honest self appraisal.your last post which Martin commented on does read mainly like a straight backing or laying as opposed to trading.
I would also be interested in how the over/unders is going kick off to 1st 15/20 mins.I have done a lot of this recently in selected matches to get 10 %profit on stake then exit.I have mainly played in games with high liquidity. I have tried it under 2.5 to get 5 % and under 3.5 to get 10%.I haven't kept exact records (but I intend to).I may try to do the member's challenge but I'm pretty useless on Tech side of things. The reason I have veered towards the under/over 3.5 is (as you mentioned) in previous post an early
Goal can kill you in the 2.5 market ....granted at times you can reach profit target very quickly. In 3.5 market 1 goal is not a complete killer.I am a relatively new trader though have been a sports person for 40 plus years.I can empathise with much of your traits and randomness is our enemy.Horse racing is my sport and it is very difficult even for those with a lot of knowledge. They is a lot of information on horse racing about..interpreting it is key.Im sure the stats which are coming will be a huge help. Finally ...you never go broke taking a profit.
Best of luck and thanks for sharing. -
@eamonn-hogan the unquoted trades just struck me as a bit random, is that a market you trade usually?

After the horrendous start in the day with a £48 loss (almost 10 points ) in the horses I battled back in the football with £67 profit. (just over 13 points). This was done mainly with backing the unquoted odds in the half time markets in a couple of games, and also backing Arsenal and laying off for a big green. Going well until VAR knocked me for 6 in the chelsea game. After backing Chelsea to win the game i cashed out after the west Ham goal. I then backed 1-1 in the correct score market. Betfair then voided the bets but i was stuck in a red position after I tried to eliminate the damage. I have got a nice green coming in the Sporting game as long as they dont lose. If sporting avoid defeat I will end up £13. Extremely happy with that.

you done well with the 22 point profit Eammon but stay of the random bets due to boredom mate it will lead to loses in the end mate and frustration and anger when these random unresearched spur of the moment bets lose.
It maybe a sign you need to take a break. I always thinking if I am betting on events i don't know anything about its time to reset and think. Is it a sign your becoming addicted?
I may have misunderstood the post so if I have I apologise but I just want to make sure your ok mate.
Cheers mate. Yeah I know that is where I normally lose it all again. If I can control the random stupid boredom bets I will be delighted.

Results for the first month of my trading journey.
Green by 22 points. Great start made in my first month. This was mainly made up from trades won in the golf, also a few small greens in laying the dog and the unders markets. There has been no standout market for me as of yet to pin my mast to, a lot of different strategies have been used and messed about with. Hopefully overtime I will get into a routine with a disciplined couple of markets.
I have made money before on betfair and lost it in the next few days, I need to keep the head not to throw it all away again.
The first day of the new month had me logging in and with no football that interested me I laid a horse, it won. I laid an outsider in the next race, it won. I went a third time and laid a random horse at 8/1. It won. Why do these horses never win when I back them? So a poor start to the month. This is the time before when after losing what I would call stupid bets I would go on a rampage to try and recover the money lost. This time though that wont happen (hopefully). I am still up since I started recording results and as long as Im green in 3 months time I will be happy that is showing a sign of progression.22points is fantastic! I thought I had done well with 11 lol keep it up, keep the rage trades out and watch the boredom then you should be off and flying!
11 points is good mate, I wont average 22 each month. If i got 10-15 a month I would be delighted. As you say need to cut out the madness bets.

@eamonn-hogan why you laying horses? A strategy you have developed.

Turned to a different way of trading the unders today and was greened up quite often before the game even begun. Obviously its higher risk but even less time in the market suits me. I am backing the under 2.5 and laying 2 ticks below. I am staking 10% of my bank. 9/9 trades today with a 3 point green. If i have got out of the first trade with a green and there is an early goal I have gone back in and repeated the bet, again with a 2 tick strategy.
Also had successful trades in laying Huddersfield, Thun, Sion and Leicester.
I have also layed Brendan Todd in the golf and he is making a mess of it handing it to DJ.
All in all a good day with a 10 point profit after losing 14 points yesterday.
Profit this month is currently at 25%. -

hardest trades I find with discipline is the unders Eammon.
They are the hardest to handle when it comes to improving your discipline. Are you going for other types of trades?
I was doing the correct score market which was doing well as well as laying the dog pre game, also successful. I just got overconfident yesterday and went against my plan.
we all do it sometimes it pays off and we end up winning but when it doesn't pay off we do lose a lot more than we want too.
Keep at it. I think this is the biggest problem most traders have.
