@adam
Thanks,
So it is what i thought it was. Might of found a small bug then. The reason i asked was when i changed from "Take Available" at 4-4 to "Offer" at 4 the profit dropped from plus 1200 to minus 1500. Obviously i couldnt get me head round that since the 2 options should produce similar results in the backtest. This isnt happening today and i am seeing the results i expect but yesterday isnt the first time i have seen that odd behaviour when swapping between "Take Available" and "Offer". I gave up with some experiments in a "Lay the Field" type strategy because of it. -
@jonathan-jones If you use "Take Available", the horse has to trade within that range. It's like looking at the market and going "oh ok, this one's in my acceptable range, I'm going to open a trade at that price. E.g. if your range is 4.0 - 7.0 and you spot a selection at 5.0, you open a trade at 5.0. If you set your range to 4.0-4.0, you're saying the horse has to trade at exactly 4.0, no higher or lower.
"Offer Price" means queuing your bet up at a specific price. If you're backing at 4.0 and a horse trades at 4.0 or lower, you'll see an entry bet at 4.0, and vice versa for lays. The price "matched" is always the price you specify, as if your bet was sat there waiting, i.e. if the price goes through your specified price and trades at 5.0 > 4.6 > 4.2 > 3.8, you'd be matched at 4.0, not 3.8.
I think the latter is what you're looking for in this case. In fact, I think in most cases where people enter the same number for the upper and lower price in the "Take Available" range, they're probably actually looking for "Offer Price". I might put a warning in the software to account for that.

Hi, quick question. In the software whats the difference between 'Take Available Price' and 'Offer'?
I thought take available is just doing a bet at the current market price if that price is in the available range and offer is putting a bet in the market at the price you want and waiting for it to be taken.With that in mind I must have a logical blip in my head because i would of thought for a lay for example using take available from odds 4 to 4 from 1 min out to the end of the race is the same as offer at odds of 4 yet the results are pretty much the complete reverse in terms of profits. Obviously there may be selections under 4 which would be a bit of a spanner as they would match at their current price but given if i change the odds range in available to 1.01 to 4 (so should account for almost all of those) the result is almost the same as just using available of 4 to 4 (ie a good profit).
Anyone care to point out what i am clearly missing.

@john-folan Yeah, weird. Did yours just not hit Run For Oscar at all?
Nope. I’m on the 300 refresh but that shouldn’t make a difference. It went off at 2.43 so was over the 2.4. Mine goes in at 10 seconds out

One flat pace. Two winners on these yesterday.

@darryll what time are your bets placing?
-
@john-folan its a great strategy
-
@john-folan yeah very good day, im only on £1 stakes to test 4 strats but the results so far are really good, at the moment im just getting used to finding time to place trades etc with a 9 to 5 job but im getting there
-
@john-folan Refresh rate is whatever default is, which I think is 1000ms. That doesn't explain Run For Oscar being a loser though.

@nick-allan I hope you had the short odds fave bot on today . 5/5 and best thing is a horse that was in range all day drifted out past the 2.40 upper limit in the last couple of minutes and won its race. Brilliant
Mine hit Run For Oscar in the 6.45 at Haydock @ 2.3 which was a loser. I also only had 3 hits total for the day. I wonder why we have different results? I do have my maximum set to 2.3, not 2.4, maybe that's got something to do with it.
I think it is. Also what is your refresh rate?
