@Matt-Ayles Did you back the Scots? I see they're down to 1.16 now, having gone out to 2.5 and more earlier. Hope so!
-
@Matt-Ayles bairstow test batting av. is 37. Foakes' is 32 so not much difference there. However, how many runs have been added to the Aus accumulated score from all of Bairstow's drops??? granted, Foakes may not have taken all of those chances but to my mind a test standard WK has been consistently undervalued by England since Jack Russell. (rant over)

Good morning session for England. They need to press home that advantage now and hopefully they'll be batting just after tea.
-
@Richard-Futter could cost us the series, 2nd test now and getting stumped in a silly way last test (as much as I hate that)
-
Two more drops from Bairstow; just not a Test quality keeper I'm afraid.
-
And he can bowl!
-
@stuart-wallace-0 It's because he can bat
-
@Matt-Ayles
Also not a fan of Dobber Woakes - just dont get it. Tongue was pick of bowlers at Lords, including getting rid of Smith in both innings yet we get Donkey Woakes. And dont tell me its because he can bat ! -
@Matt-Ayles Good plan. Netherlands can make big scores in ODIs but they're equally capable of folding for not very many. Have to say I'm not an expert on Scottish bowling, but they've done supremely well to see off some much more highly rated sides and they deserve a place in the World Cup Finals. Come on the Jocks!

Confirmation: NED must chase this down in 44 overs to qualify for the WC. Target is 278.
NED have hit 362 v Oman, 374 v WI and 315 v Zim but all 3 of those were at Harare.
Most runs conceded by Scot at this ground is 286 v Ireland. (Sri Lanka only got 245.) Thats probably why the price is as it is.
Price currently 1.4 on Scotland. If it gets to 1.8 I'll start drip backing.
-
So good to have a genuine fast bowler back in the team. Wood must be the quickest in the world just now.
-
Looks a really good batting pitch. England will need to bowl very well, otherwise it could be a long hard day in the field. Must get 3/4 wickets in the first session IMO.
-
If Scotland score more than 250, which now seems an absolutely certainty, Ned would need to chase it in 44 overs to qualify for the WC on NRR... the higher Scotland go here, the less overs Ned have in order to overtake Scotland on NRR which will mean they have to take risks with the bat.
No entry yet, but another thing to factor into any trading decisions.

Nice to see a catch held

Changing the subject, Scotland posting a score in the World Cup Qualifier. A Scotland win will book them a spot in the world cup.
They're 1.3 to back, which is too short for me, however the highest total the Netherlands have managed at this ground in this tournament, including warmups, is 214. They chased Irelands 193 in just 37 overs but did lose 8 wickets in the process.
If Ned get off to a strong powerplay and come in to any kind of price I'll be looking to lay.
Caveat: if Scotland collapse for less than 250 i may change my mind.
-
As always don't really expect fast moving markets till 2nd INNS onwards
With AUS batting gees would love couple quick poles to then back to lay the draw -
Australia put into bat. Pitch is quite green but the overhead conditions are better for batting than expected. If the Aussies can get through the first few overs there could be runs to be had on a rock hard pitch, and they could have the England batting dodging the showers on Saturday. First hour today could be crucial.

Good morning traders! How are we all?
Disappointing team announcements as I've never been a fan of Woakes, Wood will fall over more times than he'll take wickets, and why aren't we giving Rehan Ahmed the ball?
Anyway, weather could be a factor in this one and England can't afford a draw... the Aussies will probably bat slowly to bring the draw into play and secure retention.
Let's see!
