Lots of rain in NZ first day by the looks... draw price already low.

Roughly a third of tests at Wellington end in a draw too according to cricbuzz.

Morning folks, I'd like to have a discussion with you all and try to see what ideas a group of cricket loving traders can come up with...

Personally my cricket trading has been good for a while now, but there is one genre that, according to my spreadsheets, continues to lose me money.

    Franchise cricket!

Franchise cricket is very exciting, and i love watching it, however the strategies that work for me on international cricket (no matter the format) do not work in franchises... and with so much of it available it seems like such a waste not to use it. Strangely the SA20 was ok (not amazing), but the BBL, PSL and WPL have been very poor.

The IPL starts on 31st March and what I'm looking to do is test a whole host of potential strategies, including one on runs in the first innings which may be possible depending on how betfair works.

For me, even the 1.1 lay strategies haven't been working in franchises, as by the time it gets that low it's too late and more often drops than bounces.

Does anyone have any ideas they would like me to test?

@stuart-wallace-0 I have set a 'Repeat on Success' 5 times on the strategy, thoughts being that there could be several 1.1 scenarios during a match, but you are alwaws potentially have the situation (as proved in this test) of the odds going from 1.1 to 1.2. then 1.3 then back down again to 1.1 where it invokes the Stop Loss, therefore i am thinking of simply reducing that to 1 , and just taking any profit from 1 trade without the possible reducing of profit by the stop loss being invoked several times.
    Anybody any thoughts on this?

EDIT : Have amended it to not Repeat on Success, and set the SL to be a Trailing SL. That way, in this example trade, the price went from 1.1 to 1.3 - therefore the TSL will change to be triggered at 1.27 and placed at 1.24 instead of 1.07 and 1.04 respectively.
All of this done in SIM mode of course.

Did the 1.1 strategy today on Mumbai Indians, and it 'worked'!, gonna have to disect it as 10 bets were matched ......
3 initial lays at 1.1, then 2 backs at 1.2 and 1.3 then 2 further lays at 1.1 as it came back down again, and 3 stop loss bets at 1.04. Net green of 40 pounds.

    BAN v ENG.
i dont get it - ENG big faves despite 2 losses , no batters and a disjointed side.
Also, big swings based on Toss , ENG won toss and came in whilst BAN drifted when ENG put them into bat.

I asked Alistair Hamilton for his view on our 1.1 lay bot.
I intend to be testing these in the run up to IPL which starts on 31st March, with a view to implementing this plus the Lay The Toss Bot in maybe the 2nd/3rd week of the IPL.
Interestingly, as shown in the vid, in the example game he used , BAN v ENG, there was a big opportunity to get a good profit.
I have set it up for BAN v ENG tomorrow and also the Mumbai womens game tomorrow.
I am going to try to see if i can incorporate the TossLay and 1.1 bots together so that we only have to call one Bot strategy.
Let me know what you think.

    IND V AUS.
would expect IND to declare once Kohli gets to 200, give them 5/6 overs tonight to bowl - watch price move if so.

only movement was AUS came in from 600 to 350 ! IND remained around 5.2, which might be a good call for a back.

As Athers said, England have gone into this game with 1 batter (Malan), 3 keepers (Buttler, Salt,Duckett) and 7 bowlers. 🙂
both Curran and Woakes out charging the bowler. !!

    couple of personal opinions...
1 Salt - just put a spinner on and he'll soon get out.
    2) Moeen - will take sides apart when theres no pressure on ... when there is pressure on then he has the backbone of a Xmas cracker fish.

Salt is just a slogger - he wont be around for long.

yes, as i thought. All you have to do with Salt is put a spinner on and he is soon out. ENG still 1.5 - if Buttler is out quick then that will go through 2.

    yep. now 2.02.
last batter in now - ENG will do well to reach 150.
