The road to full time

@darri well said Darri, opposite for me busiest time of the year for us occupational hazard of working in Finance for a big multinational US conglomerate with a financial year end in December.
My trading will probably be weekends only well into January. Fortunately tennis season as good as finishes this weekend until next year.
-
How is everyone feeling about going into the last part of this year? Arguably the busiest and most risky part too. Im going to be less busy for the next few months so if people are wanting to ask me for help or look at spreadsheets etc then now would be a good time. Decided to take a reduced effort elsewhere to enjoy the xmas and new years period.
Id also encourage people to remember that xmas and new year is coming so look after your mindset going into this period. Dont go chasing those losses. If a bad swing happens how will that affect you mentally and financially? Just keep everything calm. If you see red warning signs jump on here and write a post see if people can explain the losses.
Look after yourselves! If your someone with multiple strats might be best to switch tactics and focus only on your best performers. The amount of football is a blessing and a curse depending on variance and how solid your strat is. Even good strats could get caught out.

Thanks for all the messages lads! Was a good birthday, gonna make the most of my last year of the 20s
I know its been quiet trading wise over the int break but all iv been doing to tick me along is matched betting. That money will be used for my xmas/new years bank.
I think a perfect way for people interested in making trading a long term thing either part/full time is to follow this path:
- Choose a market they wish to trade (overs/unders, LTD, Lay the dog etc)
- Build a filter using the stats software
- Track the selections with all fields on a spreadsheet, ask me if you need help on this
- While that is tracking head on over to the bookies and build a bank by Matched Betting
- Keep refining and tweaking your tracked strategy until its a proven profitable strat for at least 200-300 trades
- You will then have a solid bank from matched betting, this can then smoothly transition to a trading bank and it will also not be a huge dip in returns from matched betting, in fact now you have something even more scalable.
Iv never really thought to recommend that approach. But really if your trading bank is less than Β£1k then really you should be doing matched betting first before sports trading. If you weigh up the returns on both upto a bank of Β£1k then matched betting wins hands down, it then allows you to nail a strategy. Look around the forum thats the biggest hurdle. We all wanted at first to be getting stuck in and make bank right away. Its just not possible and is full of risk, almost everyone doing that is actually not that profitable at all. The best traders all have strats they have fully tested its why they keep making consistent profits. They arent just willy nilly picking games. This for me is what ill be recommending to a few people and to people who come to me asking for help. Its a no brainer in my opinion.
You could for 2022 start with Β£100 and then turn end of year it is then a fully up and running bank, that comes with a fully tracked strategy that would then have been tested for a whole year which would include winter and summer leagues. From someone with experience of building my own bank just from trading, id say that most people would pay handsome money for that kind of offer. Please consider it if you havent or are sub Β£1k bank.
LTD to resume this weekend if we get qualifiers

@darri said in The road to full time:
Turn 29 today, its funny thinking about the last 3 years and what/how trading has changed my life. I was a broke student, gambling my wages away, embarrassed i hid it from my family, that inevitably made me go even deeper into gambling and eventually became homeless for a time period. The only reason for this was gambling. Its terrifying what it can do to you and how silly it is at same time. I know its easy to go why cant they just stop, its hard to understand until you have been in that situation, Its like a white lie becomes another, then another and so on.
We all have our reasons for wanting to change our lives around, these can be big or small but are impactful to your life. My reason was i saw my little bro while i was living in a homeless b&b living with drug users, people just out jail etc. That time period also changed me. Living with people who have been in really tough situations and then having my own problems too. gave me a new perspective on life and people. Ill never be one to judge a person that is having tough times. The world is a difficult place for some. But if you want change badly enough youll get it. Living there was a world iv only ever seen docs on tv about. I was in that state from gambling. When i saw him and the fact id missed him grow in those few years of a bubble id built i realised then change had to happen.
He is the reason i made sure i left that place. In the last 3 years iv been able to work on myself with everything i do helping me further get out the gambling hole. Iv got a video editing portfolio, i work on some great projects (this is where i invested my bank recently) its my own company, I trade successfully and more importantly profitably, I now live a life i wanted. Gambling was gonna give me that life i said funnily eventually in another form of gambling (trading) it has. Sometimes in life we really have to hit rock bottom before we value certain things. Im away to go celebrate tonight with my family and "not so little bro anymore"
The reason i speak about helping people and why sometimes i try to force them to listen does come from a good place. I can see faults of my old self in people at times with trading as it veers towards gambling. Ill not apologise for that. We at end of day can only help based on our own experiences. Iv built a profitable way of viewing trading. One of my happiest things in life right now is sharing the transparency of my results. Go around and look there is very few people being as open and sharing this much. Its because i want everyone to be able to turn this into something, experience the same path i found with it. Trading really is there for everyone to take advantage of and really help their lives in some way, very few come on here with stacks of cash in bank already.
I genuinely am excited for the next 3 years and how that will transpire. We are at a very interesting time right now in the world with technology, cryptos and the metaverse. Its in these times i plan to take my investing/trading to the next level. The goal to retire early is still very much on the table. For you unlucky people im gonna be blogging that entire journey. Anyway, thanks for all the messages. Ill be back trading on saturday for what will now inevitably be a variance filled day after iv given it big talk here. Enjoy your week you lot.
Happy birthday
Have a great one, you deserve it for all the help you give on here
