Aiming for my financial freedom using the horse markets
-
Hi Charles.
I'm doing 2% on a lay, 2% on a bet, 4% on a DOB and if I'm testing/trying something I use the smallest amount available (in Sweden that is £3). When I'm pre-trading I use more, but I'm never in to far. I increase my stake size after each turn of the month with the same amount my bank has increased with.
I'm very selective in what I'm choosing to do. It is not much for me to do right now with the AW tracks, so I'm mainly gathering data, doing a few pre-trades and just waiting for better times to come along.
Thank for welcoming me.

Interesting read. I would have a couple of questions and/or concerns.

How much of your bankroll are you committing to each individual trade? If something goes horribly south, therefore, how much will that hurt your total amount available to trade. I ask this because people with very small bankrolls will frequently risk too much of their available reserve on each trade. My rule of thumb is that I never trade for than 2.5% of my bankroll on a lay trade and 1% on a back trade.

The answer to question 1 influences how realistic your monthly ROI gain is. In my opinion, an ROI of about 15% per month at minimal risk of ruin is possible with selective use of various trading approaches. I don't believe that 35% per month is attainable on a consistent basis without risk of ruin, and is only achievable short term by risking too much of your bankroll.

You should be looking at what the yield is of your strategies both individually and collectively rather than just ROI. A solid approach will yield something like 3-4% over the long term. Less than that not worth bothering with, any more than that and it is likely that your sample set is too small and that it will inevitably come down over time.
i admire your discipline so far which such a small starting bankroll, I just think maybe you are setting yourself up for disappointment with overly ambitious short term targets.
Just my opinion of course. Best of luck and welcome to the group.

I really don't like AW tracks. My statistics do not apply for this kind of surface. The only thing I can do is basically looking for steaming horses during the final minutes before the off, and try to piggyback on them. This is the horses that I think might have a chance of coming in today.
