Hi All, after a search i could not find anything specifically related to Betfair Football Trading courses. I would be interested to know what other courses people here have taken and what there thoughts were? Ive recently been watching a some videos on youtube from Ben at Sports Trading Life and they look quite good so have been considering in doing his course.

Hi Rupen,
I am going back many years, a few years after the start of Betfair, I saw an add How To Trade On Betfair, it was in our local paper was a 4 hour course £50 and @40 miles away, in Northumberland, I give it ago, but when I got there it was one of those places with an almost live feed to the racing tracks, and football games, this place was a state of the art trading platform, out in the middle of nowhere it was all about betting in running, and in those days they probably had a 5 second advantage on the population, I was taught how and when to lay in running on the horses, and how to scalp on a live football game inplay, but only when the ball was either out of play, free kicks ,goal kicks throw inns, anything that held the game up, their money was in, and pulled out during actual play, I think the idea of my course was to attract a couple of new players for the hire of the seats and pc', I did enjoy it and if I had lived nearer I would probably have give it a go, although without a live feed, the knowlege I learned was no good at all. gl.

@rupen-shah Betfair gives some data, it't not that good though. Wouldn't think it does what you want on this though.

@ryan-carruthers HI Ryan, there are a few matches i was not able to trade this weekend from my selections, is there anywhere i can get historical betfair prices so i can make a note of the prices? This would help identify any other angles incase a lot of the selections dont end up 0-0 by HT. Cheers

Yes fantastic news looking forward to it

we are actually recording a training series for members that will hopefully make it easier for new traders learn the game in a clear and cohesive way! most of the content is already on the site but we are hoping to help people find it in an easy way, as a lot of people seem to miss the absolute gold on the site.
Just seen this post and its great news!! (said the newbie - haha) Onwards and Upwards!!!

@ryan-carruthers Great, thanks. Will let you know how it goes

@rupen-shah
I like the look of this on the face of it.
On the points raised - for the drip pricing I would say watch some of these games and start to track the pricing.
So check it and write it down at HT, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90.
I'd write both the back and lay prices as well and also the scoreline's. From here you will be able to collect some data on what happens when they stay 0-0 and what happens when there is a goal and will also be able to set some points on your drip stakes as you'll see the average amount of ticks between the time slots.

1: adding in a minimum number matches played could be a good idea - teams get into rhythms so I always avoid a lot of early season stuff. At the end of season you need to watch out for motivation issues - do the teams have anything to play for.
2: How many times will you enter the market? I.e how many times will you drip your stakes in - two, three, four? What will be your max liability as a percentage of your overall bank?
3: Have you considered limiting the leagues to just major European leagues where you may have more knowledge about teams or players or at least easier access to significant team news.
4: Where is your exit? Are you prepared to take a loss of the full liability or would you prefer to cut out at 70mins, 80mins etc - if your gonna cut out then think about adding in a filter that shows you what percentage of goals are scored after your cut off point so you can make a choice on where to place your stop loss.
5: Before entering the trade check the weather in the location of the games your trading - it makes a big difference to the chances of goals.
6: give some thought to replicating the filter but with the same opposition box ticked. That way you can record it in parallel with little to no extra work. You’ll then get data you can use to spin different angles on your original idea.
Best of luck with it, share your trades, results and how well you executed the plan. We will then be able to offer thoughts and further discussion points.Hi Chris, Thanks for your notes, here is how i have approached your points:
- In the filter i had selected scope to 20 games
- My max liability will be 2% for the total trade, so how many times i drip stake will come down to the inplay stats and my reading of the game
- Yes, but i also want to use this as an opportunity to build my knowledge of other leagues
- Not sure whether to have a set time to cut the trade or base this on my reading of the game and stats - advice please....
- Will do
- Done and adjusted filter as per James comments and added in H/T 0-0 FIlter, which has reduced my selections to the ones below:
Selections above for those who want to follow
-
@chris-watts like this idea of replicating the filter for same opposition type Going to give this a go!
-
@rupen-shah good start mate. Something else to consider is at what maximum odds you will enter the market, you can then work out the strike rate you need for the strategy to be profitable.
For example if Barcelona are at home to Eibar and it’s 0-0 at the HT, the draw odds are still going to be pretty big, and you’d have a large liability. -
@rupen-shah nice Rupen. So a few thoughts from me that may or may not help at this stage.

@rupen-shah hi mate, this looks like a good start, would be interested to know how this works for you.
One point from me... overall 0-0 results less than 5% seems slightly low to me. e.g. if a team had played 19 games and only 1 was 0-0, that would give a 0-0 percentage of 5.2%, so it would be out of your filter but imo that would be good enough to trade. Maybe change it to < 10% or something like that?
Let us know how it goes

@ryan-carruthers Hi All, here we go, let the critique begin: I wanted to start off simple so have selected the following 2 filters:
If the games are 0-0 at HT I will drip lay the draw if the Fav has had 6 shots and 2 on target. A reasonable amount of to select from:
to further filter the games i could add in the following HT Filter:
Which would leave me with the following games to focus on only:
Thoughts?
-
@rupen-shah Looking forward to this, make sure you tag me in so I can help/read through it.
-
@chris-watts Thanks for your comment Chris. Having digested it, I would agree that i need some direction and I will focus on games where they 0-0 at HT. I will look at all the resources you have suggested and post my rationale on this strategy over the next few days to get feedback and ask questions to make sure i am on right track. Thanks to everyone for there comments on this trading journey!

Let us know anything you want lessons on! We have 130 planned so far lol but always looking for more to cover all the essentials
One focusing on entry points based on stats. I know you've covered this during some videos but I'm trying to build my own stat criteria for things such as LTD and O1.5 drips for example. So one course solely based on shots on target, off target, and attacks/dangerous attacks would be ace. This is assuming the pre-match stats were strong of course. Thanks mate

@martin-futter hi Martin I’d be keen to know what strategies people use if any when their is an early goal or 2 in LTD and lay the correct score trading. I guess other options or is it smarter to shut the laptop and wait for the next game?
