Small Wins - Weekly Thread
-
Good Afternoon!!!
This is a thread that I have been wanting to do for a while guys for you to post up the small wins you've had - I don't want people posting BOOM and screens of huge profits here (in fact its not allow, you can't mention how much profit you made!) but just things like for example 10% increase on bank over the last month, week day whatever or even 'Hey, I followed my plan!'.
We should all have a place to celebrate together - let this be it and show some love!
-
@ken-paine YES!! This is great buddy, I always think take small consistent profits? OR one big one then lose it and hate the next X months trading?
From small acorns grow huge trees. The only things that change through the stakes are you, markets are mechanical they move because of X,Y & Z. Doesn't change too much, handle the smaller stakes you'll move up and handle the bigger ones.

I've not been long in BF Trading, so a bit newbie. Went through mentality of trading vids _ many thanks for making them - and a point that came across BIG was the opposite of the actual topic. Over-trading. The comment of using a "guideline" 1% or 2% maybe up to 5% of bank as a staking guide, It was a great assurance that I am where I ought to be - despite temptations at times to go for a quick kill.
I use 1% = 1 point. Basic stake normally 1 point, 2 points on the likes of >1.5 and I'm left with room to manouvre upwards if I wish. Meantime, winnings are not great, but they are steady and in the right direction. Sometimes a philosophical shrug of the shoulders and the thought that a profit's a profit helps when winnings get a bit too tiny to take.Ken.

@frode-lia Nope not without installing windows which I am loathe to do!
There's one called 5 star bot which is browser based and can do a few bits, but not that comprehensive!
-
@frode-lia not sure, I’m a windows man. Pretty sure Ryan uses a Mac though so he’d be better placed to help.
-
@simon @Ryan-Carruthers Do you guys know about a bot that is compitable with mac?
-
@simon Plus it gives you that consistency you can rely on.
-
@ryan-carruthers using the bots has just hit home to me how much I get in the way of myself making money. It’s been a valuable lesson, and made money at the same time
-
@simon Yes!!! amazing, thank you for giving this thread a boost as well. It was a cracking thread idea, I totally agree on the automation I think its the future of trading!
-
Nobody posted on here in a while, but I thought I’d share a small win of my own. This year from Jan - Apr I felt like I was getting nowhere with my trading, I didn’t make any money at all. Didn’t lose much either, but felt stuck in a rut.
During this time I was in the background testing bots on the racing markets, I went live with these end of April/start of May. May was my best month I’ve had for a long time, and yesterday was my biggest ever day profit wise trading!
I think this goes to prove that you the person is the biggest barrier to making profits. With the bots there is no second guessing, you set the trade up and they execute it for you. Takes emotion and hesitation out of it. It’s a huge lightbulb moment for me, as it’s highlighted how much I need to improve myself to make money away from the bots. So I will continue to learn to become profitable whilst the bots execute profitable strategies in the background -
@chris-watts that's exactly what I am thinking - just something to bridge the gap.
-
@ryan-carruthers Yeah its good enough to accommodate that, its not good enough to fully replace standard trading software on a constant basis but for occasions where your not doing anything too complicated it can work just fine. You get a ladder interface and some basic tools, tick offset, hedging etc. I find it really good for closing trades that I started at home, often i set things up in the morning but then im out in the afternoon and i needed something to bridge that. I tried wagertool for ages! eventually losing patience with it crashing mid trade nearly everytime! so annoying!
-
@chris-watts I have used it once or twice before, to be honest in the last few weeks I have been thinking about getting it on the iPad for some of the evening games instead of bloody loading everything up and having to move into a different room etc....
-
@ryan-carruthers pretty good, it’s much more reliable than wagertool for iOS and it gives me trading functionality on the go which suits me. It was a bit of a faff at first to register and then they sent me the wrong codes (desktop rather than iOS) but now it’s up and running just fine with no issues.
Do you use it?
-
@chris-watts YES!! How you getting on with Traderline?
-
I finally got Traderline downloaded and running on my iPhone and iPad! Means I can cancel Wagertool which was great from a functionality perspective but would unexpectedly crash constantly!
-
@simon Excellent, thank you for sharing!!! Hopefully will be the first of many
-
I’ll go first here then! One issue I have had of late is over trading, especially on quiet weeks like last week. A couple of times last week I found myself placing a trade, then thinking “why did I do that?” Then exiting it almost immediately for no loss because I realised I was just doing it for something to do. This is a big step for me, and hopefully means I’m on the road to becoming more disciplined.
