    For those who don't use software, is there a quick calculation to work out how to remove liability in a trade rather than completely trading out?

    @mark hey buddy!

    So when I went pro I was young and had pretty much no responsibilities so I cannot answer in terms of how to do it now as such.

    I know @Martin-Futter has had some good points over this topic before.

    I’d defo say having a buffer would 100% help because then if you have a bad month you won’t be worrying as such the next month and β€˜needing’ to hit a target then that gets in your head for the following months and affects your trading.

    I hope that helps.

    To all the pro's on here, when you went full time what was your mindset in taking that leap.

    I know you need confidence in your strategies, proven results etc, but when it comes to the financial aspect of making a living did you ever have daily targets, monthly maybe? I'm years away from this but for my own curiosity I wondered how you looked at it.

    Did you save a lot before going pro to have a safety net should things not work out? In years to come, I'd love to be in a position to go part time and then eventually full time (I'm a million miles away from either!) but I was doing some maths and worked out daily/weekly/monthly targets to beat my current wage and then some. Does anyone look at like this? I'm fully aware you will have losing days and maybe weeks, but do you record a mean over a monthly period? Do you tighten the purse strings some months, or is it a case that you so much experience you are set up comfortably regardless....

    Probably been asked this time & again, so apologies. But like I said it's just my curiosity. Thanks

    @jonathan-mcdaid market liquidity and lack of big interest in betting it in general would be my guess, do you trade it? have you had any success? always would welcome a thread on it if you do!

    @james-everard it really is a matter of preference, last 20 would give more data but the problem for me is sometimes data like that become less relevant, so a team 20 matches ago probably have a very different line up by this point.

    HI
    What do you suggest on the match stats software to set up matches played either 10 or 20 games? Does the extra data over a longer period give a better guide to true odds ,or is recent form more of a possible edge in the market ? thanks

    How do i make best use of the football ratings?

    @Richard-Latimer was doing good things with them, he may be able to help!

    I gave up on using the ratings a while back as I prefer using stats that can be replicated anywhere using any data set.

    Currently I'm just using the basic stats that can be found for all the leagues.

    Can anyone explain ELO to me in layman terms? Also, how significant a factor is it...?

    This is where it comes from https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system
