@dave-jessop that must have been in the days when Test cricket was still broadcast on the Third Programme (later Radio 3)

@richard-futter how far behind is digital radio? I may have to invest in analogue!
There's very little difference these days - at least as far as the BBC goes; a second or two at most. And the long wave reception is terrible!
-
Two matches today - and they both have the prospect of being good, tight matches.
I have a sneaky feeling the two underdogs will do much better than most punters are expecting.
Especially in the case of Bangladesh, who face a useful but by no means unbeatable New Zealand team at The Oval. The Kiwis' price of 1.38 looks far too short to me. I would have them around 1.6.
I wouldn't necessarily argue with India's odds of 1.53 against a beleaguered South African side at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton. But I'm not quite ready to write off the Proteas just yet.
This is India's first game, whereas South Africa have already played twice, and although they've lost both matches, this will still be a slight advantage for them.
The absence of all time great Dale Steyn will be a bitter blow, but in Rabada and Tahir they still have potential match winners and if du Plessis can get to grips with conditions, they'll definitely be in with a shout.
Of course, there's always a chance messrs Kohli and Dhoni will bat them out of the competition, so I won't be diving in early.
Have got one or two things on today, so will probably only be trading intermittently, but if I see anything that makes a low-risk trade I'll certainly be flagging it up.
Good hunting!

why dont sky show the running DL?
I know.... it's annoying isn't it? The Test Match Special radio team is far more on the ball when it comes to DLS. They often update it even when there is no threat of rain as it gives a good indication as to which team is really in the driving seat.
-
@martin-futter if you stick on the radio they update you pretty regularly

@martin-futter Yep greened up mate! that $12 looked juicy before though! should have taken it then!

Dot balls don't matter that much at this stage, Sri will need wickets to win (which it seems they are getting!). Hope you took the price!

I have a question and I hope it does not sound too silly. This last over I'm watching SL have bowled 4 dot balls, however over this period SL lay odds have slowly crept up from $2.20 to $2.30. To me, that does not make sense because the dot balls are somewhat an advantage. The only reason I could see the reason for that would be is it may possibly force, or make it more likely that Afghanistan would play a few looser shots for boundaries? Any info is appreciated as I'm not too sure about it!

Gonna be dry for a while by the looks of things. Strange decision to try to cram in 41 overs per side, which means a late finish and more chance of the match being affected by more rain.

Took advantage of the covers thing to make a bit more profit
-
Still think the market could be too optimistic here. Cardiff loves a long period of seemingly never-ending drizzle. I've been caught out like that before!
Worth keeping an eye on the live pix from Betfair. If they start to take the covers off 'yes' will crash back in.

Not a bad swing on SL, $4.6 at the start of rain delay and currently into $3.55. Will have to remember that in future
