@nathan-bennett yeah was an amazing finish! Brathwaite the beast. Brought back bad memories of the T20 world cup final though!

That's ridiculous.... almost half the ball in line, they should at least have kept the review.

Afghans have done brilliantly, but still definitely India for me. Backed them at the break at 1.46.

No minnows in cricket anymore ... apart from Scotland 😄

Hey Scotland were robbed in the qualifying competition. And they beat England last year 🙂

Can Afghanistan do this? Is match fixing alive?

Don't think so - and definitely not!

Anyone thinking of lumping on India at 1.04 today should cast their mind back to September of last year when Afghanistan earned a magnificent tie in an Asian Cup match between the two sides in Dubai.

Not that I expect anyone is thinking of doing such a thing after yesterday's result. That, though, will have served as a very timely reminder to India that nothing can be taken for granted in World Cup cricket, and I don't expect them to show anything like the same sort of complacency that was England's downfall against Sri Lanka, even if some of their more optimistic supporters are predicting a total of 500.

The really intriguing match of the day is the afternoon clash between unbeaten New Zealand and the mercurial West Indies. With Andre Russell unlikely to play, the Kiwis are hot favourites but, with the notable exception of Kane Williamson, their batting has looked fragile, while the Windies have a batting line up capable of compiling an enormous score on their day.

I expect some big swings in this match, but will be looking to get behind the team that bats first when the early life has died down.

Even if a big first innings total isn't forthcoming, quite modest totals have proved hard to chase down in this World Cup.

@simon we seem to play better in the big games, take our eye off the ball in the ones we are expected to win easily.

That theory will be tested to the full on Tuesday when England take on Australia. Can't wait!
