Excellent run-rate, and if they bat sensibly they can put themselves in a very strong position.
-
@nathan-bennett was placing my hedge bet as the wicket was taken. Need faster fingers! Disappointing wicket that.
-
halfway through typing taken green 1.6 from 1.29 reload . right side of that wow
-
plenty to play for hopefully rock bottom SA... T20 like start wicket Runrate
-
Great move!
-
1.4 looks to good a price to miss; gonna have a little lay

Amazing to think that if Sri Lanka beat a badly out of sorts South African side at Durham today, they'll be level on points with England (albeit with a hugely inferior run rate).
Which makes it difficult to understand why SA are currently around 1.5 to win the match. I guess that's down to the fact that Du Plessis's side walloped them 5-0 in the recent series in South Africa.
But if the Sri Lankans show the same level of concentration and determination they did against England, there's every chance they can get the win they need to be serious semi final contenders.
The Proteas have shown a tendency to throw in the towel if the opposition get on top, and I'll definitely be getting behind Sri Lanka if they bat first and survive the first few overs on a fresh pitch.
However, this is unlikely to be a high scoring game. The average first innings score at Chester Le Street in recent times is 262, and I reckon anything approaching 280 will put huge pressure on the team batting second.
Should be an interesting one with the chance the market could be a real roller-coaster.

@dave-jessop I think Ali can be an easy target. I think it’s Englands batting that has let them down at this World Cup. They have been mostly good with the ball with some exceptions, but had they batted to their potential they wouldn’t be in this position.

@peter-laverty CricViz has an analysis of Englands performance on different types of pitches. They rates each pitches difficulty (not sure how) and also speed. England’s perform A LOT worse on slow “difficult” pitches. Edgebaston is the slowest and most “difficult” pitch used in the World Cup according to them.

Interesting point from the commentary team the other day. England will face India at Edgbaston where it turns and hard to post big scores. New Zealand at the Riverside where its green and swings. The flat track bullies will be well and truly undone. When it rains it pours for anything to do with England. Close to evens for the game against India looks well worth a pre match lay.
-
That worked out OK
-
Should of gone with my gut and gone with India, wanted slightly odds never-mind. Always tomorrow.
-
@peter-laverty this WI team just so hard to predict. Watching brief for me, if a partnership looks to be forming I’ll have a back of them as they can be devastating.
-
@peter-laverty would like this to be a touch higher, if gayle goes early that price will drop dramatically...

Considering how difficult chasing has been and indias two world class spinners, this will be a tall order. Is 1.50 enough to get involved? Leaning towards yes but would appreciate some thoughts
-
underdog mentality when have a sniff .., I shouldn't be surprised . could be a cracker now and late
-
Layed india at 1.49,, not looking like a 300 score here
-
Gotta fancy India to score big here. Spin is likely to be far more effective than pace at Old Trafford, and the Windies come up pretty short in that department.
