Data and analysis
-
Hello,
Hope everyone is doing well.
Out of interest, anyone else using simple multiple regressions to gauge the relevance of the stats they have accumulated over time? And anyone using solver to optimise their approach to data collection? I have started using both and I would be curious to hear about people's experience of using these tools. The whole idea for me is to really optimise my approach and save time and effort where possible. It isn't about finding the golden egg in my data - just to clarify :).

@Nick-Segura the two stand out things I analyse that seem to work are
No. 1 (most important out of the two) Odds Ranges That Work
No. 2 Leagues to trade what should I keep and ditch(I am especially vigilant about removing poorly performing low liquidity leagues)The other important thing in my opinion? Do not lose your original criteria and data set, always keep recording it alongside the tweaks!

@Martin Interesting, I have started using it to analyse/optimise my data set based on the "problem" I want to solve. My data set is getting larger by the week, with several data points for each selection I record - mainly prices and a few ratings. I only have over a 1000 matches and while I am not planning to make any changes at this time, I am keen to work on my analysis skills for when the time comes later this year. Analysing large/complex ish data set manually is somewhat difficult I find, "countifs" has its limitations, especially when it comes to finding out about stat relevance, individually and/or combined, but Regressions and Solver seem to be great tools for this. And it removes some of the potential for biases and pre determined judgements accumulated over time - when one looks for what they want to see in their data. Interesting that you use it for poker. My approach is almost all about maths and value, so I guess there are similarities with poker.
