First day of the year, a great time to start this blog I think. Having only been a member here for a few days and only just starting back on my Betfair trading journey after nearly a year away I currently have zero stable strategies. I do however have a back to lay horse racing strategy and a lay to back horse racing strategy on the go which I will be forward testing for the next few months. Both of these have been found and back tested using the BTC horse racing system builder. These are both fully automated using BFBM.

As these are both trading strategies, not set and forget, in the next few months I have to go through my results and see how they compare with the results shown in BTC. If they're similiar in terms for entry price and exit price it will improve my confidence in these strategies, the way I have my BFBM bots setup and the results of the back test.

One of the risks of a lay to back strategy is there is always a chance of being unable to hedge and losing the full liability. According to back testing this has happened 4 times but its something that I am going to have to keep an eye on.

My BFBM bots are here. Hopefully they might come in useful for anyone else who is interested in doing something similiar but are new to using BFBM and aren't sure where to start.

    Current plan

    1. Forward test the B2L and L2B strategies. Currently staking £1 on the B2L and £10 liability on the L2B.
    2. Ensure the results of forward testing match or are similiar to the results shown in the BTC horse racing app.
    3. Keep experimenting. I want a decent variety of strategies, not just horses but also football.

I'll likely keep this updated weekly, maybe every 2 weeks. We'll see how this goes!

Small update in that I am also trialling a strategy which consists of backing the B2L selections 30 minutes before the off and trading out just before the race starts. Back testing for this show a very nice return, the price goes in my favour quite frequently. Nothing in the criteria and settings have really been selected for this, it's just by chance. One I'll be keeping an eye on.

This will run alongside the B2L and L2B strategies.
