Does anyone have a BOT created for the lay the beaten favourite strategy that doesn't fire if the horse selection is the first or second favourite? I currently have a bot that is built by automatically fires even if the horse is in the top two, and on greater examination of the strategy it would appear as though if the horse is either first or second favourite then you shouldn't trade it. I've had a look at a system builder with the first and second favourite filter taken out and it's not as profitable.
If no one has I built any suggestions on how you might go around creating a rule where the bot doesn't fire up if your selection is the 1st and 2nd favourite?Set your conditions like this:
legend greg! merry xmas my friend

@greg-mitchell Brilliant, thank you

@james-ruttley List menu (Top Right), then the spreadsheet looking icon on the left under Layout

@michael-meier could you let me know where it tells how to add extra automation rules, selections and p&l columns on bets angel please

Finally took the plunge and set up Bet Angel with the "Super 6" horse racing strategies.
Running all tomorrows selections automated in simulation mode.
I can't wait to get home from work tomorrow and see if everything works like it should. And oh yeah... First post despite being here for 4-5 months. Still learning lots of stuff daily from you guys!!
-
@dan-mackinnon 100%. I was very glad it was one of the first strategies I tried that I learnt that, as it made me start doing very small stakes forward testing and actually listen to the 'always forward test with small stakes' advice
-
@luke-seddon @Dan-MacKinnon Just keep in mind when looking at the backtesting results with a stop loss, they can be misleading if the market is fast moving, by the time the stop-loss kicks in and places the bet, the market might have moved well past that price point so it doesn't get matched, but the software will assume it did when you look at the results. I feel like in this the bets should be getting matched fairly early on so hopefully won't be too much of an issue, but if you get different results when forward testing that is probably why.
-
@luke-seddon Thanks Luke, what a brilliant bunch of blokes in here. Top drawer behaviour indeed

@Lee-Colvin 0_1671197950093_Back the C&D Winner.baf Couldn't see how to send it via message. I believe that is it, just put the horse in "Automated Nominated Selection 1" and should be good to go.

@nick-allan Amazing stuff, thanks so much again Saint Nick
I actually use BFBM for John’s Short Odds Lays, he helped me out with that a few weeks ago so I’m not going to rock the boat and just let that do it’s thing

@nick-allan Absolute legendary behaviour sir, thanks so much Nick.
Do you have any other racing ones matey? Back the Fav at the off or Dan's Course & Distance for example? If I'm pushing my luck, just tell me to beat it
No worries, happy to help all fellow traders. I follow 3 strats, lay beaten fav, john shorts odds and martin back the fav v3, here are the bots for both
now on the fav and shorts odd you only highlight the race not a horse selection , lay the fav its race AND horse selection ( which you put in auto nominated selction 1)

@dan-mackinnon You may have just saved me a lot of money here! I am going through the courses now and also looking at the types of races as well.
I know what you mean! The issue I have is that it goes really well and then the losses are just so big and trying to minimise them proves difficult.
-
@luke-seddon To be fair, neither had I. It was only that I saw John's DOB and realised we could do that.
I've been trying to make a scalping bot using the software for months now! I am determined to crack it!
-
@dan-mackinnon That's amazing, I never even really thought to look at the closing trades as I have only seen set and forget strats on here. I am definitely going to play around with this more, thank you!
-
@luke-seddon Thanks Luke, I've just had a quick look and am not sure if you know but you can use the software to give you the desired results.
EDIT - SORRY JUST SEEN IT'S MEANT TO BE 10 SECONDS AFTER OFF NOT BEFORE
Under the betting rules, I've put these in which should follow the rules from your post. The only thing I struggled with was the liability stop loss.
-
@dan-mackinnon Sure this is it. The only filter I am using is the pace rating. I have it set to show me the horses that have a pace rating of 2/4 and 10/12. If you laid the horses then you wouldn't be in profit, however the idea is to take advantage of the fact that they don't lead the pack and scalp 10 ticks.
0_1671185272437_L2B&B2L.json
My theory was that after Dan had explained how he came up with the pace rating as it is unique to the software was a) this is a lot more in depth and thought out and b) only we have access to it and not the whole market. So when I started to check I saw that a fair amount of favourites actually had a 2 pace rating. Currently I have now tested 14 races and have made a profit on 13 of them. It would be more if the weather was better and less abandons. So this is my criteria which you will be able to replicate in Fairbot I am sure -
Place a lay bet 10 seconds after the off (this is important as if the horse has a lucky start, the distance to profit increases a fair amount).
Once the lay bet is placed, have an offset bet of 10 ticks.
The stake I have set as liability which is £10.
Have a stoploss of £2.50.
Only bet on the favourite/second favourite if the price is under 5
Only bet on 1 horse per raceAlso I have placed a green up rule if the price goes above £1 as I the price once jumped past my 10 tick bet and i caught it on the way back down so could have taken more!
That is pretty much it. I am using small stakes currently, but those are currently my ratios.

@luke-seddon said in Bet Angel Automation Thread:
@sean The B2L was less successful, but to be honest I need to look at the profit vs stop loss as I think that even though the strike rate is lower than the L2B, the potential profit is much greater. The L2B has had a 90% strike rate over the last few days so has been profitable. Here is the updated one - essentially tries to get a 10 tick profit with 2.50 stop loss. (there is also a rule to hedge at £1 plus as I had one where the price jumped above the 10 tick bet and could of had a nice profit!) I am using super low stakes so the profit tends to be between 40p-80p. Super early days but looks promising.
So the strategy is to use this on the favourite (or second fav with a price under 5) that has a 2/4 pace rating from the software. What's quite satisfying is that a fair few times the bot took profit from a runner early on that ended up winning the race.
I've been messing around with a similar strategy on the horse racing software. Have you already created a strategy? If so do you mind me having a look?
If you haven't, do you mind if I create one based on your criteria and you can have a look at that?
I'd be interested in getting a Fairbot bot to do the same.
