Why cant they kick off at the posted time? Anyone no the reason? Baseball, NFL starts within seconds of the post time. Racing is in the same league as soccer although i dont trade but its still frustrating.

YES! I have a bit of an OCD issue with insects in the house, if I see or hear a fly in the house then I can't rest until I get it out.

I keep 75 tarantulas in my office (plus assorted mantises and scorpions). They are great for keeping the flies down....

@dan-mackinnon Could you imagine the cost just the sheer size of the country!!

Yep they do that well, then do some really smart things over there. I like the 'you can right at a red light if clear' thing!

@ryan last time I was over there I said the same thing. It means if there’s a big storm the whole area is without power. It’ll cost loads to put them underground.

Something that is good over there which I wish we had over here is screens on windows and doors. You can open a window and not worry about the whole cast of A Bug’s Life wandering in!

Slightly off the topic but it still amazes me in the US that they have power lines above ground?! I know its a HUGE country but still!!

@Stuart-Henry i did hear about the storms. A bit weak they have to wait 30min after the lightning was last seen.
Is this the same in the UK? I guess its all about safety these days.

Anyway my trades got up. (My lay the under 1.5 goals H1 and under 3.5 goals FT strategy has been on fire the past 3 months)

I can understand why they do it though. When you go to sports events (or any event really) in America you see whole families attending. Therefore they have to cater to everyone and there’s usually a lot of other stuff going on and the sports is the ‘main event’. The closest I can think as a comparison is test cricket, where you have special guests, some sort of sport related competition, kids events, etc.

I guess they have the same philosophy as us when it comes to attending football - a good day out ruined by 90 minutes of football

My girlfriend is American and one of our first dates was going to a football game over here. I told her kick off was at 3 and she met me at 2.59 and wondered why the streets were empty.

A few months later we went to Seattle together and the Sounders were playing so thought we’d go see them. I think KO was 7.30, so I got there for 7. Nothing. Their “ultras” were handing out lyric sheets! I went and got a beer. 7.30 still nothing, so got another beer. 7.45 the teams come out, ok so a little late, but then nothing. 7.55 some guy comes out to sing the national anthem. They didn’t KO until after 8pm and when I asked what the hold up was they just said “oh that’s just how it is over here”

@stephen-oleary to be fair Baseball and NFL often kick off late, College Football is also awful for hitting starting time.

This morning, there were severe storms with lightning, that delayed three games.
