Horse Racing Strategies Megathread

Hey @Martin , im just wondering if you could possibly help me somthing? I'm wondering if you or anyone knows a good stratergy just for a few ticks? Maybe 10 tick out with a 5 tick stop loss. Ive put the criteria into the software, looking into CnD past winners to find out what horses drop.. 30 min entry before the race start. Even maybe the fave 3.0 strat but using it just for few ticks instead. Do you have any criteria i should add to the sofware that could help find horses for ticks. I was thinking maybe specific horses on book % or along those lines? This Software really excites me. But i feel like a total noob right now.
-
@nick-allan Yep I'm running the two strategies side by side to see how they get on. This ends up in a bit of a silly situation where you are sometimes backing and laying the same horse, but I want to let things play out and see how the strategies perform untouched
-
-
Im using all the base strategies at 1 pound stakes, after seeing all months was good, still not sure how crazy idea it is, but will let you guys know lol.
-
i have an EW idea of say, the c and d strategie.. exact same.. but only taking trades with odds at 6 at the 10 min mark. Gives options for value to drop and if the horse places, your stake is returned?? Id love to know the roi and so on, having your stake returned if placed but downside you obvs have to double your staking?? Does this sound good or am i just dreaming?
-
The grayhound for this system stats thing to me sounds like an absalute gold mine. Ive read storys of certain traps and so on to lay.. So being able to see what traps on specific courses to back or lay AT specific odds?? And find the data whats prifitable on that? Surely there is profit there. And it would add value to the racing side of things on here too.

Just out of interest is anyone else possibly doubling up on backing favourites strategies? for example is anyone out there using the back the favourite 3.0 and the course and distance winner simultaneously?

@karl-pick YeH I’ve heard stories

@william-kidgell ...as an ex greyhound owner a strategy would be very difficult, as results are very blinkered by runners not in it to win it, dodgy qualifying times and the unplanned first corner wipeout!
It's a very strange click.I used to do a lot of laying based on traps at certain courses in certain race types. All seemed to go to crap after the pandemic. There is greyhound software out there already but it was about as useful as silver cleaning fluid in the Tottenham trophy room(yes I am a spurs fan).
Lets just say We knew when we were defo not losing!!
Ran at A1 level as well. -

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it possible to do an EW strategy/test it? Or is it in the pipeline? I have a feeling there could be some very profitable strats down that avenue. PS whats you're thoughts on grayhounds too? That sport never stops and could also make allot of money with the right strategy.
@Adam can answer the each way stuff I have no idea if that's in the works.
Not looked at greyhounds, how popular is it?

@richard-kedie LAY is odds of 1.8 to 2.4, BTF is odds of 2.5 to 6, so impossible for both to qualify!!
Thanks I hadn't thought of that.

Hi, I have a newbie question, there are several races today that have qualified for two opposite strategies, namely Back the favourite 2.5-6 and Lay the favourite. So my question is which strategy do I choose or do I discount both for those races?
-
Does anyone have their own record of the horse racing S&F results?

Hi, you know John's DOB Zero Pace strategy, there's often lots of selections in the same race (like today, there's 6 horses in the 16.40 Chepstow)
My question is; do we put our DOB bets on all of them, or is there some way of whittling them down?
Ty!!!
I do the lot subject to odds(some don’t qualify). But to be honest I’ve left them alone lately as inrunning im not getting the same odds drops as in the software. It’s all about bot speed.

@andy-donnelly ah thanks andy that makes sense, and the bot i created doesnt fire on the 1st and 2nd favs so i will try that and see if i get a difference in results, thank you
-
@nick-allan It’s the fav rank rule that is causing this. In the morning it will discount 1st and 2nd favs at that point in time, but this will change throughout the day,
My suggestion would be to clone the strategy on the software and remove that rule to get the full list of possible qualifiers, then filter out 1st and 2nd favs nearer the time of the race
-
@adam @Martin Yes I can see that the rules section give you the rules of the selection that I understand. But what it doesn't show you is how you trade them, let me give you an example:
so if we take short odds lay, now every morning it gives you a race and anything from 5 selections to upwards of 15 selections so that's pretty obvious that you need to trade the race and NOT the selections specified. So when I set up my bot on betangel guardian I set it up for any horse in that race that qualifies with the odds
now when you look at something like lay the beaten favourite it's different because they only give you one or two selections so it's obvious that when I set up my bot on betangel guardian I select the race AND the horse selection, does that make sense?
the rule sections show you how they select the horses every morning but it doesn't tell you what you need to do with them, do you trade the race or race AND selection. For example in lay the beaten favourites are you actually laying the selections that are the first or the second favourite as per the rules? or are you laying the horse that is selected in the morning on my daily qualifiers that NOT the first or second fav? Now because you're only getting one or two qualifiers in the morning what I'm doing is I am affectively programming my betangel guardian for those selections as long as they fulfil the criteria i.e the odds and the fact that they are not the first or second favourite.
But what I can't understand is that there are selections that come up when I look at individual trades in the results section of the system builder that were NOT in the daily qualifiers of that day? And that's what I'm trying to get to the bottom of.
Is anyone else having this issue?
