Have a look at the All Weather Lays I posted in the forward testing thread. Good starting point maybe?

@John-Folan sorry to hear about the ill health! glad you are well now.

if you want to work on anything just give me a shout, you know I'm always keen for such projects as these!

Thanks Martin it was nothing major, just knocked me silly for a few weeks. Minor op and all good.

Appreciate that. I will tag you as I go along for your input.

Same. I'm always up for having a look at stuff.

I've got a couple of AW strategies but just want to see how they get on. I've also got a flat strategy but need to wait a few months before I can forward test it.

This year I'm just using flat stakes until I'm comfortable. Just because on some of these it really doesn't matter if you use % or flat stakes. It's also easy to think I can 10x something I feel happy with than trying to figure out the %

@Dan-MacKinnon Favs on flat any distance just selective
Auto dismiss all races with less than 7 runners
couple of tracks im wary if won before at Chelmsford or Southwell
and sometimes it depends on make up of the race
83% strike rate at moment over last 12 month

    Laying the favourite I assume?

Just having a look through the presets. A few have made decent recoveries(Short odds lays, LTBF if you want a starting point). Which leads me to believe the problem is more bankroll management than the strategies. I'm guilty of bailing too soon and overstaking sometimes. Short odds lays I have tweaked from the preset, but not much. Consistently made me money over nearly two years now despite a couple of anomalous months where the drawdown was severe. I've also got my original dob and trob strategy working (since the start of 2023) using the software with some tweaks. The beauty of the software is I was able to tweak the odds ranges and actually open them up a bit for dobs as it showed this was profitable.

We really need a revisit and a smashing together of heads. I've been a bit absent lately, but that's been down to a bit of ill health and is all sorted.

I put another strategy up on the forward testing thread early this month and again this one will need correct staking as the drawdown can be severe(AWL). It took an absolute pounding the first couple of weeks but has clawed back half of that drawdown in the last few days alone. I'm running it on a 200 point bank as it has a max drawdown of 48 points. That's only 25% of the total bank and relieves the tension somewhat. Again bankroll management. Also downloading the individual results and finding the max drawdown in points and percentage value is the key to this. I will do a guide on how I do this seeing as I have now worked out how to do videos without sounding like a total knob.

I will also try and do a profit and loss spreadsheet with summary page template for people to use. This will be compatible with how I have my bfbm set up, but is great for giving you a snapshot of where your strategies are.

I'll just need a few days to get going. I'm quite keen to explore the different race types for separate backing or laying strategies as the All Weather has proved this can be done. So that is where I will be concentrating my efforts going forward. If anyone else wants to throw something in the ring then please do.

Question for everyone - If you were limited to trading only one strategy for the year. What would you choose?

@Martin They'll still be in the database so I could pull them out. There are tons of strategies called "pace lays" and "lay the field" though, does anyone know who created them originally?

    Hi

    I'm new to this.

I was wondering if anyone had the link to pace lays strategy and lay the field strategy as they are not in my presets.

    Thanks

    Colin

@Joseph-Henderson I've missed a few days this month but you can see the results by running the strategies in the software.

Would it be possible to get an updated screenshot of the BFBM bots forward testing performance in the original post? I’m not currently subscribed to the horses as focussing on football, but curious to know. Thanks!

    @Martin
Hi, why are Back to lay dobs and Lay beaten fav ones to avoid? Comparing Irish Dobs to Back to lay dobs, backtesting the second one has less dips and higher ROI...

And Lay the 3rd favourite has one month with over minus 100 points? If using 1% of your bank it would mean losing the whole bank, which doesn't happen with Lay the beaten favourite?

So I'm just wondering what's the criteria for "approving" ones but not the others?
    Thanks.
