@paul-foster I tried that, but guess I must have missed something.

Hi Martin, I'm having this issue of not being able to run the strategies from this thread without receiving an error or having some data missing with the majority of the strategies which I download and import. I try to use my intuition where some of the fields are empty when they clearly shouldn't be, but that's not getting me very far unfortunately.
Please could you help me figure out how to run the strategies correctly?

@nick-allan I use BFBM to automate all my trading. If I can’t work out how to set up the bot, I wouldn’t progress a strategy.
I can understand the motivation. I've spent most of the day at my desk and only had two selections which qualified. The benefit of time saved seems very valuable.
It would be nice to hear BFbot users hash out the pros and cons with fairbot users.

@paul-foster do you use automation that back or lays the fav at say 10 seconds before race? or do you do this manually?
-
@john-folan thanks john, at the moment i haven't subscribed to the horse racing software but im definitely interested just waiting for the results for july and august. Good to know that most can be automated in particular the fav horses strategies

@ian-parry thanks ian, at the moment i haven't subscribed to the horse racing software but im definitely interested just waiting for the results for july and august and when my work rate cools off

@darryll depends what your looking for, but my only comment would be to keep it simple
I'd like to know how to calculate the strike rate, the ROI and the Average profit per trade.
-
So I've done my prep and drawn up a spreadsheet for this short odds lays 1.8-2.3
I'm not sure if I should be recording different data when it comes time to jot down the results. I'm also not sure if or how to add forward testing to the back testing data or just record the forward testing data independently. I figure that I should have certain figures always displayed at the top such as ROI, strike rate, profit etc but I don't know how to keep the top rows to always display as I scroll. I'm using open office.
Can anybody put me straight?

@Darryll @Paul-Foster
This should sort you out. No actual base filter, just a price entry range 10 seconds out. These are the base for my Short Odds Lays, that aren't in the OP but are in here somewhere. Then look at class, race type and classifications. Maybe DSLR and runner numbers. I do run course filters, but I take away any that aren't in profit, with plenty on a review list because of the number of races. What I will eventually do is revise them to those with a good profit over a good number of races. That said I'm 40 points up in a couple of months of live trading them so why mess with them? 150 points since last March isn't a bad start. Filtered, I am over 200. If nothing else worked on the software, these are worth it alone.

@darryll you won't know who the favorite is until just before the start, so the software selects every qualifying horse (all of them) in a race. You just trad the favourite at the relevant time, say 10 secs before the off.
Other strategies may have a single or multiple selections in the same race and you would place trades against them all, as appropriate.
Hope this makes sense.

Thanks Martin. That certainly loads without error but now I'm confused as to the 'upcoming selections'.
I don't understand why there are multiple selections per race. Shouldn't there only be one lay placed on the favourite and therefore only one selection per race? Further, I see that the bet is to be placed somewhere between 10 minutes before the off and the off, does this mean that in practice I should take the available price if it falls between 1.69 and 2.2 as soon as it is 10 minutes before the off or if the odds fall outside that range initially but then comes in, or goes out, take it as soon as (or queue up at 2.2 if the favourite is currently at say 2.3 at 10 mins before the off)?
Please can you help clarify?

@nick-allan Have a look at my bfbotmanager thread. Few bots in there. Most of this stuff can be automated.

just out of interest any of these strategies have any kind of automation? I use BF Bot manager?
I have some running in my own custom code now but I started them off with BetAngel automation. It's limited though as BetAngel doesn't let you include a customerStrategyRef so it's a pain to manually collate the results. Happy to send you the rule file if you like. I don't use BF Bot manager but I think @John-Folan might?
Either way, they are mostly just simple one bet strategies so it should be fairly easy to set up in any trading software that does automation.

Hiya. I tried importing @martin's Short Odds Lays (1.69-2.2) Added 24th April 2022
I did the back fitted file https://forum.betfairtradingcommunity.com/assets/uploads/files/1653984006330-rules_export-41.json
I receive some errors when running the imported data.
