Horse Racing Strategies Megathread

The old backfitting argument. If your base filters are profitable and you can make it better with a few tweaks then that argument goes out of the window.
Especially if the filters are
Country
Race Type
Handicap Y/N
Courses.
GoingThen as @Martin says. Forward test. Which I do by assigning a £100 bank to it and use £1 stakes compounding. If it’s any good it will get some traction. If not then bin it and move on.
Simple.
Or. Just monitor it in the software going forward. Even easier(and cheaper)

@martin Hi, I've been playing around with some strategies and I'd love for you guys to either pick holes in them or, if you think they have potential, try and tweak them to make them even better. Let me know what you think thanks...
This one was my attempt at 'dutching' the top 4 in the market (although it's currently just backing the top 4 because I couldn't work out how to dutch them properly in the software) - obviously a lot of bets and takes ages to back-test and the SR can't be more than 25% if you're backing 4 to win per race but - PROFIT £11971 ROI 35% SR 19%
0_1655455717012_back_top_4.jsonThis one is backing favourites between price 3.0 and 8.0 - PROFIT £5612 ROI 38% SR 30%
0_1655455863153_back_fav_3_to_8.jsonThis one is backing favourites in maidens and hunt chases - PROFIT £1010 ROI 60% SR 45%
0_1655456173534_back_fav_mdn_huntchs.jsonI could be doing something fundamentally wrong so if I am please let me know.
If not I have plenty more, what look like, profitable strategies I'm willing to share.
Just let me know, cheers -

@stuart-hutchinson allegations made me laugh!
Yes we are adding more data and the backfitting is eliminated by forward testing, hence why I mention forward testing many many many many times including in the FAQ in the opening post of this very thread

@stuart-hutchinson Hi Stuart, Yes I did revise it, but I don't think it has been updated on Martin's list yet. You are correct, use odds 2.50 - 150. There are plenty of tweaks you can add that will boost the profits beyond 2000 points. Just have a play around. Good luck!
Martin is still using the old parameters in the video published yesterday for some reason
Interesting reading the comments on the video. Allegations of back fitting and not enough data etc which does have some merit.
Question for admin really : are we getting more data?

@martin Hi Martin, I've got a couple of strategies I don't mind sharing. They are almost micro strategies & I often run them together as they won't produce many trades in a day, but for anyone looking to build a betting bank they can be useful. One deals with Irish maiden races and the other, races where all the runners are Mares.
thanks for sharing these!
these have also now been added to OP

Well this looks a bit tidy. Usual logical filters and a 100% 8,10,12 pace rating in the last few races. Course filters appearing a must and it seems to be the same regular places that are coming up in a lot of strategies as poor performers so I have no bones about using them especially the really poor ones. £599 profit to £1 stakes and a whopping 138% ROI. Mental. Oh and taking a price 11 minutes out before the scalpers go to town adds over 100 points profit. You could also Trob these for a whopping 119 points profit a year as well and an ROI of 28%. Guess its bot building time for a bit of testing

@john-folan that looks crazy mate! Have you made a bot for it (asking for a friend )
It's in the first post of my bot manager thread. You will need to import the selections, but there is a handy tutorial on how to do that in the same post. It takes two minutes
Thank you kindly sir!
Make sure you remove the condition under staking to back at bsp. I've just removed it and reuploaded the bot. It wouldn't have been a disaster just probably a worse price than at 11 minutes out. My bad.

@john-folan absolutely outstanding

Easy to do. I created a strategy and stuck in a finishing position of 1(which we only know after the race) on a strategy the other day. I had 20 seconds of thinking I was going to be rich before i realised lol

@dr-steve-buckwell on the daily qualifiers screen there is a little cloud button on the right hand side at the top that you can click to download the selections into a CSV file
-
@dr-steve-buckwell There should be a button on the top right of your screen which will export it to excel

ah another question from a budding horse racing trader. When the daily strategies come up, the format on the website is a wee bit cumbersome. Is there anyway to download it into a usable format, spreadsheet maybe. What Im saying is that there are many many selections and races and Im looking for an easy way to get the big picture...
