@john-folan I will download tomorrows qualifiers and see how they compare to the bets placed and see if there is much variance.
Sweet. It’s still well profitable without the bsp thing

@john-folan damn ill delete it as I don't want anyone using it and losing money. Thanks for the heads up
Don’t delete it off your strategies though. Hold fire until Adam can look into the price rank at entry point thing to see if it can be added

Can I suggest, everyone keeps a list of the days qualifiers and make sure they match the results the next day? There may be a few differences(nothing is 100%), but it should be very similar. Everything I have done is within the variance on offer from the strategy so as long as it's behaving in a similar fashion to previous results then you should be fine.

Hi Everyone, I have put together a strategy for laying horses which according to the software is pretty profitable but weirdly it keeps picking winners instead of losers, I know it doesn't have a 100% strike rate but it seems a bit odd, I just wanted to post the details and see if someone can see a fatal flaw I have overlooked possibly in setting up the rules??

so the bets you are placing, do they match recent results? Do you have a list of today's qualifiers? I thought it might be the bsp filter but it's profitable without that as you aren't too far away from the start. I can't see much wrong with it

@john-folan great idea that!
Will just make life easier, plus I reckon it will open up more angles?

Hi guys this is my first real post as I've not long joined.but I'll attach my efforts at my first strategy attempt. It's using Martins idea of laying pace horses. I've gone the lower end and added extra course filters and distance. It will probably need checking and tweaking but it seems to produce 7% ROI and a 67% strike rate with a profit of £569 to £1 stakes. 0_1652560688367_rules_export.json
Watch this one mate. You have a market entry time of market open and you are looking to lay the bsp favourite. Sadly we don't know what that will be until the race has gone inrunning. So the figures will be off. I've asked Adam to add a favourite at the time of entry type rule.

@john-folan hi mate yeah sound advice so ive refined a little by taken out the fav. now its still in green but getting more than one selection per race im not getting every race come up which is good as i know its not just throwing up every horse. the back test shows 4660 trade over past 14months or so. but my main question is seeing as iv not put in any criteria that the horse must have been ??? over past ??? runs. does that mean that the dobbing strat is now filtering selection?
No it won't filter it unless you have it as a filter in your main filter section

@tomasz-lunarzewski I Think its good to share them at this stage just judging on today if anything else as if it wasnt for the community scanning over my one and finding a little symbol error who knows what couldav happend complete bank loss not only for me but anyone else that was doing a similar error. besides that someone could refine it and make it more profitable . nothing here is judged as stupid
-
@tomasz-lunarzewski please do!

@john-folan
Another couple of tips from me:Always download your list of historic trades as a CSV file and run it through Excel (or google sheets etc), add a column on the end for “running total” to see step by step how the trades went in the past. Plot this as a trend to see if there are any peaks and troughs along the way, I find this much better than just looking at the end figure and basing judgement on that.
Also do all your testing/filtering at level flat stakes, loads of times I've gone to the % bank staking then carried on filtering down only to realise the PL figures are based on % profits which is no good for filtering
Only use the “money maker” (copyright @John-Folan ) after all of your filtering has finished and you have a decent profit at level stakes. -
Hi. I found a quite good lay strategy as well. I don't know how to call it, but it brought me a few quid already on low stakes after about 50 selections. if anyone is interested I'll share it later.

Quick word of warning. We don't know who the BSP favourite is until the race starts. A few seconds out is fine as the favourite is nearly always established by then with a few exceptions. anything beyond that is inaccurate as they change a lot. So at the market open or morning price a lot of favourites can change between then and the off.
The pace letter filter (L,H,P) is only known AFTER the race has been run(Adam has mentioned this) @Rick-Watson your strategy actually doesn't need it :).
I found these things out the hard way when I used to use Proform.
