What a day for Wayne’s pace letter backs after a bit of a dire August.A 13 , 26 and now a 34 winner!
-
@robert-h Currently, it will be based on the final traded volume for the runner so yes, it will include in play data.
I agree that this isn't useful to everyone and what we're going to do with this and various other stats is capture the whole history and give you a way of defining what point in time you want to use. So you'll be able to filter on "traded volume rank 10 minutes before the race", for example.
Same goes for the "favourite" stats and anything else that can change over the life of the market.
We need to make some changes to the database structure to accommodate this as it will result in a LOT of additional data. This is what we're working on right now with the software.

@ken-paine Emendment to previous post. I had made a typo in hprogramming, apologies. Fave 1 - 5 restriction will actually reduce returns 50%.
TradeRank 1 - 5 restriction will increase returns by 50%.Have been trialing trade rank on my bot placing the bet 15 seconds before jump with only my selections if they are the top 5 matched amount. But have noticed that the btc software looks like it uses the trade rank after the the race has run as all of the high odds winners recently on the btc software results have them as top 5 trade rank but at jump they weren't and all the volume came in play. So think those 50% increase returns is not achievable.
Have raised a ticket on it to try and get it changed to trade rank at jump as will be more usable then but haven't heard anything yet -
@john-folan cheers john

@paul-foster i found BA good for dobs but terrible for back to lay, i personally don't trade anything inplay using automation i would always trade them manually, but i am trying to get BFBM to trade dobs but not having much success i have to say
I agree on this. I’ve tried lots automated in bet Angel and Bfbot. Although Bfbot does do my dobs a treat as it places the corresponding lay bet as soon as the back bet is matched. Means you are closer to the front of the queue. Nick my trob file in the first post and just change the trade out to 1 point. That should sort you out.

@joshua-varley its its like the fav id be interested as that what im trying to do
-
@ken-paine is trading rank like highlighting the fav? i,m trying to create a bot of BFBM that ID the fav and then fires on specific selections but not having much luck

@ken-paine That's really interesting and a huge improvement. As the traded rank, I assume, wouldn't be definitely known til just after the off, does anyone know if a bot like BFBM would be able to place the bet, using the rank at say, 10 seconds out?

I signed up for the free trial on Bet Angel to test one of my in running strategies:
Based on yesterday's results my filter returned 23 trades, these returned a 100% SR.
Bet Angel only managed to matched 13 trades in total, 11 as per the results on the filter and two different selections (which both lost).
This is similar to when I tried the same strategy on BFBM a few weeks ago, so I'm not progressing any more in running strategies. Neither seems to be quick enough to react to the speed of the odds swings. I read in the BA forum that the delay to placing the bet is 1-sec, so even though the refresh rate is far quicker it still feels like an eternity for the trade to be placed and then matched.
Also, I'm going to play with BA for the rest of the trial period, but for me BFBM is still my go to bot.

@lee-colvin No worries. Ask any question you want. There is always someone in here who will know.

EUKHost
Which plan do you use with them Adam?
For my own trading bot I use one of their VPS Enterprise servers with 6 cores and 16GB of RAM. I do a load of webscraping and stuff on it as well though, you wouldn't necessarily need that spec to run a trading bot.

@john-folan Thanks John, appreciate the honesty there matey.
As for tweaking, I'm brand new to racing and not really sure what a lot of what I'm reading means just yet so I think for now, I'll watch on from a far until I'm more comfortable and knowledgeable before I start tweaking peoples strategies.
Thanks again John :thumbs_up_medium-light_skin_tone:

@lee-colvin it can be. Backing strategies can have notoriously long losing streaks. Sometimes worth tweaking to try and get those numbers down.

This is probably a question for @john-folan as he seems to be the Racing OG in here but if any other experienced racing traders can help, that would be greatly appreciated.
I have just run Wayne's Pace Letter Backs through the racing software and I noticed it is extremely profitable and performing brilliantly, I also noticed the longest losing streak was 36.
My question for you John, or any other experienced trader is, is that a kind of a losing streak normal with racing?
I'm honestly not sure my stomach or my old ticker could handle that kind of a losing run but if it's perfectly normal, then I perhaps need to adjust my brain a bit with horse racing
