Hi all, I've been a BTC member now for nearly a year and recently signed up to the horse racing software but no very little about trading horses. I was hoping someone could help me with regards to finding the relevant info or stats to find horses that like to lead a race early on for possible back/lay strategy.
are you thinking dobbing here? have you seen @John-Folan's trob strategy?
-
@andy-donnelly have you watched Adam's training vids they helped me a lot

@martin I set up a reverse strategy last night trying to capitalise on horses that have won their last race(s) and hoping the odds for the next race are artificially lower off the back of their recent form and laying them. Now just to fine tune it
interesting I really like that idea! maybe I should try one!

@John-Folan thanks will take a look at the horse racing thread
@martin, I’m open to both backing and laying options at the moment.

@martin just checking
theory is that if they don't win that often they shouldn't be such short odds

@andy-donnelly so straight lays or straight backs? I've got a shorter odds strategy I am working on but still early days of course. Just looking at horses that have placed between 2nd and 40th 70% of the time and are odds of 1.69-2.20 for lays.
Do you mean 2nd and 4th @Martin ?

Fair enough then, I may dip my toe in with this one initially then and do some analysis to find the optimal odds range to improve things.
@John-Folan Would you recommend any other angles worth looking at that may suit set and forget?
Have a nose on the horse racing thread. I’ve posted a couple on there last week.

Hi all, signed up to the horse racing software today and know very little about horses and won’t have the time to trade in running so if anyone has any possible angles that could work for set and forget strategies that could get the juices flowing would be greatly appreciated?
Having watched Martins video I started on a variant of laying beaten favs. Overall profit rating of 1.6 but a small negative on the expectation score despite overall profit looking good
I’ll be honest mate. If the ROI is decent and the strike rate correct for the odds ranges I’m targeting I ignore all that other stuff. Don’t get too caught up in turning it all green. Profit/ROI/Highest Bank Drawdown and Strike rate being nicely above what it should be to make a small profit is what I tend to value most.
