Set & Forget Football Strategies
-
@Martin HI all just back from work for lunch and catching up on the thread. I have been trading the set and forgets still but don't think they have been profitable this month.
I am going to the gym straight after work but when i get back i shall provide details of this months trades and will probably decide tonight whether they will be worth continuing or not.
If they are not profitable and losing lots maybe time to turn the strategy around and do the opposite trade -
@John-Malloy so everyone has the opportunity to download it and use it, I don't really see the issue of getting rid of strategies that aren't working really well. Remember a lot of people will follow these selections blind even though I advise against that, so it's important that they are performing well. Like I said I dropped it from my own personal trading so that's my main reason for dropping it out of the rotation but that does not hinder anyone else using it.

@John-Malloy I used and tracked the O1.5 strategy for 6 months and didnât get a single profitable month. I did look at all sorts of ways to improve it but couldnât, so from my experience itâs correct to remove it from the BTC âapprovedâ list. Will revisit it when backtesting becomes available to see whatâs possible.
However if itâs been working for you then as Karl says you have the tools to still continue with it.

@Martin I was also surprised to see that the over 1.5 was being canned.... especially as "you thinked it dipped" surely you need to track everything before canning a strategy? It was breaking even after the world cup, but from April I have it at 85% sr, thats 57 wins and only 8 losses, and also if you go slightly into May includes a 31 match winning streak... it's these moments that fill me with a little doubt about btc... sorry
John...keep trading it then!!
At the end of the day this about YOUR trading!
I use BTC for my shortlist and then do my own research to decide if I want to risk my money!
I am currently struggling a bit with people criticising others as to me BTC gives me the tools and research at the touch of a few buttons, maybe some expect a list of winners everyday but that's never realistic.
Good Luck and I hope this strategy keeps Winning for you! -

@Martin Hi Martin. Why has the over 1.5 strategy been removed? Has it been deemed unprofitable or just a loss of interest? I've saved it anyhow as per today's mail but was after some reassurance. I really enjoy the Set and Forgets - won't have the time to trade. All the best, Ed

@dave-tancock depends how many games they have left, less than 5 games left would concern me, mind you Over 3.5 lays and Lay Away I've just traded all the selections regardless of if the season is ending. If they do fine in that period I'd maybe cut just last game or two
-
Hi Martin,
Maybe you already explained it but i want to build a automation bot for the New lay away strategie.
Can you tel me the rules for this strategie?
thanks for your help. If you already told it in a video or any can you ut the link so i can collect the gold. Thanks for sharing a new strategie i look forward to use it.

@Martin i know you normally say to avoid the last few games in a season. Are we getting to a point where youâd stop trading the summer leagues now or is it fine to carry on?
-
@Arran-Shackell totally different strategies, ELO lay away is based on ELO ratings new lay away is based on points per game
-
@Martin Hi - what is the difference now between ELO lay away in the pre set and the ânewâ lay away? Been off the football side for 3-4 months and just got back in. Thanks.

@Trevor-H yeah people do get confused thinking they are my tips, I will see if I can get the name changed. The three in the OP of this thread are the ones I currently really like, that said not a tipster and can't guarantee they will keep doing well. This is all part of a community project we started a year and a half ago to find some good strategies to share.
-
@Martin An email headed 'BTC Football selections for today' sounds pretty much like a tipping service to me but, semantics aside, if the only way an email strat can be assessed is by seeing if it 'works for you', that isn't much help to a newcomer. I hope the historical testing results are available, at least, because otherwise we have to either paper trade for several months to gauge profitability for ourselves or take 'we tested them for months' as a green light to invest. I've requested access, but since I didn't sign up to BTC with a Google account you'll need to email my gmail address (contact.thexxxxxxx) so I can verify. Clearly, a backtesting facility will be a huge improvement and eliminate any doubt, so fingers crossed for that.
-
@Trevor-H these were strategies shared by members that did well, tested them for months and they worked. We aren't a tipping service, I know I say that a lot but we aren't, are they not working for you? I have asked which ones should be removed but people seemed happy with them. You just need to request access as it's a members only sheet which I can't stop public viewing unless it's private.
-
@Martin Access blocked. That aside, Martin, people on here are paying good money for a service that includes these daily email tips, and you're saying you don't even keep track of the results to know how well or badly they're doing? Really? How can you say they're 'profitable', then?
-
@Trevor-H ah do you mean the trading ones? I only have strike rates for those and haven't kept track for a while, waiting for the backtesting now as that will use the real odds which will give an accurate assessment on them.
