Set & Forget Football Strategies
-
@Martin Yeh good point on back testing.
It definitely has struggled in recent months but there could be some minor tweaks that could kick it back into action.
Another thing to test in back testing is filtering away shots on goal to be 9 or above. Seems to make a big difference in this years data but worried I may be back fitting
-
@Andy-Donnelly I'll do a deepdive when we get the backtesting as will be very easy to see which leagues work.
Avoid any you don't like if live trading, that strategy has struggled past couple of months.
-
Anyone had a look at league filtering recently on Tomasz U1.5? Brazil Serie B is by far the worst performing league this year for me so considering ditching that league.
-
@Fearghal-Downes thanks mate!
-
@Martin It only gives you the leagues that the favourite wins in most at odds under 1.7. Combining these leagues with the "lay away 1.0" filter could be a way to maximize wins. Maybe.. I'll try it out and see how it goes. Will let you know
-
@Arran-Shackell yeah will get plenty of days like that straight laying odds against, nature of the beast!
-
lay away had a bit of an overnight hammering
-
@Fearghal-Downes hard to say as this doesn't cover selections does it but all matches
-
I used a tool to see which leagues the favorite wins most in at odds from 1.01 to 1.7 over the last 2 seasons. (this is the lay away 1.0 method in reverse)
In the image are the leagues that it gave me.
Is it a good idea to select ONLY these leagues in the lay away 1.0 method? -
@Alex-Rendell hi Alex, yes I've been following it since January it took a while to recover actually. But yes it's a set and forget and it's still in the filters...
-
@Martin no not at all.. It wasn't criticism at all.. I get it if your busy checking all sorts here and there.. it can be time consuming thats for sure....... maybe it just stuck a chord with me as it's called Martin's over 1.5, but I get that your busy... it did have a few dodgey months so your right, although it did pick up.. but nevertheless we'll leave it there. Wasn't my Intention to criticise, anyway I've been working on a couple of set amd forgets of my own that are baring fruit. Once I've had more results I'll send you the filters or results. Or better both.... been a bit quiet the past few weeks.. although the good old winter leagues are back and should be ripe for the picking soon.... ️

@Arran-Shackell Looks super dodgy. I bet the bookies are scrambling to figure out who took the over 10+ goals bet.
-
@Correa
I came onto this thread to specifically talk about this game. Just one mad anomaly in my opinion.
-
@Correa I was watching that as it was also reccommended for the split stake strategy but 2 goals in the first 20 minutes meant no bet: Was tempted to do it anyway as it looked like more goals coming but wanting to follow Martin and Ryans advice at the moment and be strict with my trades. SHG would of been nice too especially is you kept backing them. The emails have been doing ok for me this last week apart from that one bet so far today. I also find it difficult to get on them in one hit in the lesser known leagues due to liquidity especially earlier in the week.
-
I've started paper trading football strategies this week, using just the daily email for now. Some of the outcomes in these lesser-known leagues have been quite surprising. For instance, today "Martin's Over 3.5 Goal Lays" recommended the Malaysia Super League match:
Kelantan vs. Selangor
The result? Kelantan 2 - 11 Selangor. Shocking 13 goals in a single match! Some matches do just seem off.
-
@joshua-armstrong Then I will let @Martin answer this as I know this is a strategy he knows more about
-
@joshua-armstrong I like 10 games personally that was always great for me!
