Set & Forget Football Strategies
-
I can see a bit of chatter on the U3.5 strat. I’ve been watching this one a bit over last few months and felt like Saturdays were horrid for this strat.
Thought I do a little investigating. Just did some very basic calcs on my phone using Martins results spreadsheet and it looks like it is DOWN $95.54 on Saturdays alone.
This seems to hold true both pre WC and post WC. Ironically the only period it was in profit on Saturdays was Nov/Dec during WC.
Take Saturdays out of the results and it looks a very healthy P/L.
I’ll double check this on the laptop when I get some time but seems to be a consistent trend worth consideration

Hi Martin, yeah Ive added it to my own, as its worth monitoring at least, I was thinking, well the thought hit me on Saturday, surely it could be possible to try the Thomasz method and do the exact opposite for under 3.5, then just heard earlier on a new video thats exactly what you have been tracking, Ive created a filter for that method myself, also got a btts thats utter garbage too lol,,, that could get flipped....
so are people laying over 3.5? anyone out there doing this and any idea of result? i can imagine its early testing and ill start paper trading this to get an idea if its valid, juts wondered if anyone had a number of months results?
-
@dave-tancock do you mean for the trading ones? I'm only including the ones in the daily email for this as too many people were following the poor performing ones, perhaps I could do a separate sheet for all strategies regardless of performance but I want to keep the main sheet for the top performing ones.
-
The main results sheet only has 3 strategies when I look. Is there somewhere else to view the monthly results for the current set and forgets or am I doing something wrong
-
@caroline
Do you mean something like this? It might do in the meantime as i havent got an actual spreadsheet for set and forget
Enter your bank in the box marked 1 and will show you your percentages
If you then put the lay odds in box 2 and how much of your percentage you want to risk in 3 it should then show you how much to lay
so in this example im using 3% of my bank
Lay odds are 3.9 so if i stake £2.59 then my total liabilty will be £7.51......or 3 %
-
Afternoon, Is there, or has anyone created a spreadsheet for the set and forget football systems that allow you to create/calculate percentage of bank and stakes as liability?
I've had a bash but my spreadsheet skills are not great and I'm getting stuck around the IF function
Many thanks -

hi guys, just a quick one, just wondering why under 3.5 is getting canned.? the back testing results from last year looked pretty solid. I thought the idea was that during bad runs the other strategies effectivly cover the struggling ones? I get it with Dans ltd its been hammered lately, could be due to the world cup. also I was thinking could something be done with other set and forgets. ive got a few ideas for new ones. maybe Martin could run a cometition to come up with the best one or something? get everyone working together, just an idea...:)
bueno suerte
and god speed -

SHG
Hi Allan,
Newbie question.
What does SHG stand for? Duh!No need, I just realised Second Half Goal.
-
@dave-tancock only from the member's filters it's still on here, it needs more testing
-
Surprised we are getting rid of the under 3.5 goals filter. I’m a couple points up this month with that one.
-
Hi Martin, you recently did a video on the 1st year results of Martins o1.5 set and forget results.
In it you mention that there have been little in the way of tweaks other than odds range.
I'm still new here and was looking at this strategy and it looks like the number of daily selections has reduced quite a bit since the early days in 2022. I have gone back through each selection to record goal times, results etc (which has taken a super long time) , because I am trying to implement a strategy of the back of this filter.
Still trying to understand the strategy filters (I am assuming that the league has to have a tick next to it for it to be included in the filter) and it appears that leagues such as the English Premier and Championship are no longer being included, when they were originally.
So, sorry to be a pain but can you confirm that some leagues have been removed from the original Martin's filter?
If not, then ok - but can you explain the tick next to the league filter
If so,
(i) what leagues and when?
(ii) what was the rationale for the removals - eg the Premier League only had 10 selections, N-10 is a bit small to make any significant judgement on success/failure
(iii) does anyone run the original filter in parallel to see whether the removals have improved/diminished the returns
(iv) Have the removals increased the strike rate dramatically? (79% of £1000 is better than 80.3% of £600, in raw numbers, so to speak)
(v) is there a copy or link to the original strategy filtersThanks

@steven-fletcher yeah it's definitely giving me food for thought I've been trading for quite some time but more pre race and in play with no great success, this way of doing things I've found interesting lots of angles to approach from. Just need to put the time in learning and gathering data.

@craig-vaulks use the one in the presets
-
@craig-vaulks while i can't answer your question i'd suggest going into the edit filter and having a look to see if you can see what the difference are.
There is a lot to be learned by looking at how others are using the filters and gaining an understanding of what sorts of things people are looking for.
This gives you a really good understanding of what the strategy is doing and gives you a real head start when you come to try creating your own filters for a strategy. It could also be useful in the future if you notice trends and want to alter the filter yourself
