Betfair and up coming Dutch gambling regulation changes.
Some sad news for Dutch traders , and expats that are residents in the Netherlands
Betfair will no longer provide services to residents of the Netherlands and will no longer be available in the Netherlands. .
On September 30th 2021 it’s the last day to cash out your account.
Reason for this is that on the 1st of October 2021 new and significant changes to gambling regulations come in to effect.
Which allow more online betting sites. Casino Live -betting , horse and dog races , more permits etc
The main thing is SPORTS will only be available to the Dutch sports betting organisation. and is the only one with the permit to exploit live -betting in sports . ( for the dutchies you can find this information at this link https://www.toto.nl/oktober?utm_source=89370-TOTO-eerste_aankondiging_KOA_aug-5aug&utm_medium=nlc&utm_campaign=toto-koa&utm_content=info_txt_oktober#Wat verandert er?)
Hopefully we will see something comparable to betfair trading.
so we can share and continue to enjoy the betfair community,
When I have more information on how it unfolds I will post it. -
It seems there is light at the end of the tunnel and the reason for betfair to suspend it services to the residents of the Netherlands.
As there have been some legal issues over the past years. about live betting player protection etc etc. several fines .
They suspended services to , adhere to the ruling of beeing suspended from providing services ,for a set amount of time . getting the legal stuff out of the way . Showing they abide to the regulations and apply for a license on a later date. .
With a clean slate.

Good evening every one , well some interesting betting sites and options are now comming available.
1 sports books have become available. Betcity.
1 live betting version of the dutch toto site
And several are still building their sites. On the dutch Toto live betting its has some interesting options. unlike Sportbook or betfair auto cashout ,you can set a maximum loss you want to set. and a profit margin .
For example you place a stake for an over 1.5 goal set a maximum amount your willing to lose and a profit margin.
Or an under goal market and do the same. Its quite effective.
Even scalping. Its not an exchange , but it does feel like one. The only thing missing is the lay part.
BTC Strategies actualy work perfect on TOTO .
-
So this is it ,as of this morning Betfair is no longer available in the Netherlands.

@martin said in Betfair services to residents of the netherlands will stop at 30th of september 2021.:
@marco-frankfort damn politics! just let us play
Yeah ,atleast some good news that some of the other exchanges did apply for a licence .

Well i found some new information on why , Betfair is suspending serviced to the Netherlands,
And its a bit of a weird situation. For one the Betfair and dutch govement have been a bit at odds with eachother for the past 13 years .
Also several court cases with online poker and aplications of a license . etc most recent one was in juli 2021.However is seems the main reason is the new regulations that bring a 30% tax to the operator . ( A bit of a side note usualy a foreign company having an office in the netherlands payes corperate tax and is much lower a bit of a tax haven )
However Betfair pokerstars did submit an aplication for a license for online poker.
Full details on betfair suspending services to residents of the Netherlands i post the link below of casino nieuws .
https://www.casinonieuws.nl/landgebonden/betfair-nederland/In early June, it was rumored that gambling company Flutter would not apply for a license for its Betfair brand. On Wednesday, Betfair confirmed the rumor in an email to its users from the Netherlands. The email states that Betfair will no longer offer its services to Dutch people from September 30, 2021.
Almost two months ago CasinoNieuws.nl received a message stating that Betfair was going to leave the Dutch market. According to the report, this would happen between October 1, 2021 and January 1, 2022. However, it will happen even earlier, because the Dutch accounts will already be closed before October 1, 2021:
Betfair Netherlands
Email from Betfair to customers from the Netherlands
Betfair is the largest betting exchange in the world. With a betting exchange (Dutch: Betting Exchange Market) you do not bet on a sporting event or event based on odds set by a bookmaker, but you play directly against other users. The platform makes money by charging a commission.Betfair has chosen to leave the Dutch market due to the new legislation. From 1 October 2021, the new Remote Gambling Act will come into effect, including a tax rate of 30%. Flutter seems to have chosen not to apply for a license for Betfair definitively.
Flutter will apply for a Dutch license for its PokerStars brand, insiders say to CasinoNieuws.nl. It is possible that it will still apply for a license for Betfair at a later date. It is also possible that the company will re-introduce Betfair in the Netherlands at a later date under the license of PokerStars. Then the accounts must be shared between Betfair and PokerStars.
What will Betfair do with accounts from the Netherlands?
Betfair has set up a FAQ section on its website about exiting the Dutch market. Here you can find the answers to all your questions regarding your account and what will happen to it on September 30, 2021. Below you will find a translation of these questions:In early June, it was rumored that gambling company Flutter would not apply for a license for its Betfair brand. Betfair has the gerGokbedrijf Flutter on Wednesday, according to rumors, would not apply for a license in the Netherlands for its brand Betfair. The largest gambling company in the world only wants to market PokerStars in the Netherlands, sources tell CasinoNieuws.nl.
CasinoNieuws.nl has received a message from a Betfair employee who describes how the situation in the Netherlands is going to change. The email exchange explains how Betfair will withdraw from the Dutch market in the period between October 1, 2021 and January 1, 2022. Existing Betfair accounts of Dutch people will then be closed, the email reads. The message cites the new legislation and the associated 30% tax as a reason to close the accounts and say goodbye to the Dutch market. The e-mail exchange seems to be about established policy.
Betfair did not respond to a request for comment.
A Betfair manager, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed that the situation in the Netherlands is being considered. He could not confirm that the decision not to apply for a license in the Netherlands had already been made final.
Betfair is part of the betting company Flutter, which also includes brands such as Paddy Power, Fox Bet, AdjaraBet, and PokerStars. Flutter still plans to apply for a license in the Netherlands, but seems to only want to do so for its PokerStars brand and not for Betfair. PokerStars is the world's largest online poker room but since November 2014 also offers casino games and sports betting under the PokerStars Casino and PokerStars Sports brand.
Flutter did not respond to a request for comment. PokerStars declined to comment:
“Thank you for getting in touch and for the opportunity to respond, however we won't provide a comment this time.”
James Dodge, PokerStars spokesperson
The Remote Gambling Act, which was introduced on April 1, 2021, provides that gambling companies can apply for and use a license for multiple brands. If a gambling company uses the license for different brands, customers must be able to log in to the different sites with the same login details. Although PokerStars and Betfair belong to the same group, that link is not yet in place.Betfair that does not apply for a license in the Netherlands is striking
It would be striking if Betfair renounced a license for the Dutch market. The originally British company has always indicated that it wants to become active on the Dutch market. Among other things, it conducted long-term legal proceedings against the Dutch Gaming Authority regarding the allocation of the totalizator license to ZEturf. Betfair was also involved in a lawsuit against the monopoly of the lotto in the Netherlands. In September 2019, PokerStars was fined €400,000 by the Gaming Authority for violating the prioritization criteria. The fine decision states that PokerStars offered iDeal to Dutch players at least until January 2019. Due to the cool-down period, this violation would ensure that PokerStars is not allowed to enter the Dutch market immediately on October 1, 2021, but only some time later.
Under the Remote Gambling Act, a company is responsible for all violations of sister companies and subsidiaries, Ksa chairman René Jansen confirmed in an interview with CasinoNieuws. Flutter, the parent company of Betfair and PokerStars, would therefore not be able to apply for a license earlier for other brands (which themselves have adhered to the rules in the Netherlands).
betting exchanges
Betfair is the largest betting exchange in the world. With a betting exchange (Dutch: Betting Exchange Market) you do not bet on a sporting event or event based on odds set by a bookmaker, but you play directly against other users. The platform makes money by charging a commission. If Betfair would not apply for a license in the Netherlands, it remains to be seen whether the Netherlands will receive a betting exchange on October 1 (or at a later stage). Many well-known online casinos will offer sports betting, but will do so according to the classic bookmaker model, as the TOTO in the Netherlands is currently already doing. Many online casinos use the services of Kambi for this. Kambi, formerly part of Unibet's parent company Kindred, allows online casinos to offer a sportsbook without having to invest in oddsmakers themselves.
Matchbook, the second largest betting exchange in the world after Betfair, is not available to Dutch customers. It is not known whether the company will apply for a license in the Netherlands. Matchbook did not respond to a request

@martin said in Betfair services to residents of the netherlands will stop at 30th of september 2021.:
@marco-frankfort hopefully you can adapt your trading to suit it! that's a lot of rules to follow.
Just the tip of the iceberg, but yes a ton of rules and regulations for both , porviders and users . And even more for any one aplying for a permit /licence to operat an online betting site.
As long you have 134k for all licenses fees permits etc etc . on top of the liquidity , privacy , software , security taxes etc etc.
Any one can aply for a permit to operate a live online betting site or casino. So currently trying to get the best out of the BTC and current state of the toto, it will be a challenge , however what i learned over the past months is already paying of . turning my 14 cents in to 9 euros . It takes longer using smaller stakes. but still if i can make a profit with just a few cents , the future will look bright when live betting comes in to play .
-
@martin What i have read they will introduce live -betting on the 1st of oktober,
Tons of changes , are comming to dutch gambeling regulations.Live and ingame betting is one of the major ones, plus more licences and permits are granted , and there it becomes a bit blurred as the text says the only sports betting will be with the dutch toto organisation and (online) store bought pools. .
Currently looks like sports book with out the live betting and cashouts .So we can hope some one will set up something like betfair exchange
( if the regulations alow it )Other wise hoping they will grow in to it as the dutch toto site will ad live sports betting. And the setup it has now is verry simular to sports book with out the live betting.
They already have most of the betfair betting markets with the exeption of Races horses /dogs etc .
I will post a link to the webstite of the dutch betting site as it stands now so you can get a feel how it looks now . And the potential it will have with live betting.
Below the translation of some of the big changes.
Changes at TOTO from October 1, 2021
The new Gaming Act will come into effect on 1 October 2021, which will result in various adjustments to the TOTO game range. The provider will split the game offer into physical and online. In the shop, the TOTO will continue as TOTO Shop and that offer will consist of sports betting only.Online, the TOTO will be split into TOTO Sport and TOTO Casino, as the provider will also offer casino games from 1 October. There will also be an important addition to the game offer for TOTO Sport: live betting will be made possible.
In addition, players will no longer have to pay a gambling tax for prizes above €449. All changes from October 1, 2021 are listed below:
TOTO will be split into TOTO Store, TOTO Sport, and TOTO Casino
You need to adjust your account if you want to continue playing online
You don't have a playing limit, but you do have other limits
The player no longer pays gambling tax on prizes above €449
After October 1, 2021, you can also play live betting and casino via the internet and app
When you play with TOTO in the store, nothing changes except that you no longer have to pay gambling tax on prizes above €449
Explanation of the changes
If you log in to TOTO on October 1, 2021, you will immediately see what you need to adjust in your account in order to continue playing. You will, among other things, have to provide your citizen service number (BSN) and upload a valid proof of identity. With effect from the new law, this is mandatory for all providers who receive a Dutch license. There is currently no playing limit at TOTO of €1,000 per week for anyone aged 24 and over and €100 per week for anyone under the age of 24. These limits will expire, but you will have to set other limits.
This concerns the amount of money in your TOTO account, the amount you can deposit and how much time you want to be logged into TOTO. There will be a loss limit of €100 per week for all players under the age of 24.
From October 1, you can also bet live on sports matches at TOTO, which means that you can still bet during the matches. In addition to the sports betting offer, an online casino will also be launched. One of the other good changes at TOTO is that you no longer have to pay gambling tax on your winnings.

Hi Marco, if you have a freind or family that you can open a betfair account in the UK , then get a VPN set it as UK and youll be fine to bet in play. In Australia you cant bet in play so my VPN says im in New Zealand and I bet in play.
Would that work for you mate?I know what you mean i have been looking in to that , this is something different , its not just the IP adress , if i would go across the boarder with belgium or germany , i still wouldnt be able to use betfair.
Its pure residential , Bank acounts , home adress , etc .
I could go on holiday in londen. and i would not be able to use betfair after the 30th of september.British expats living in the netherlands wouldnt be able to use it either.
There is betfair Curacoa a dutch island in the caribean that might be a solution.
But its not ideal .But you might be on to something , as betfair is simular to a stock markets and fish/farm / cattle markets.
Having something they have in the banking system , buying shares in to different markets . and a monthly or 3 montlhy divident . risks are shared .

Well it seems my betfair trading carreer is slowly comming to an end , i got an e- mail to prepare to empty my wallets .
A sad day, on the other hand iam using every ounce of knowledge i gained from the community to , get used to the future going to be live- betting site in the Netherlands .
And the software betfair community uses actualy is quite effective for the current form of that beting site.First test runs turning 14 cents in to 500cents. but as it stands now it so slow and fixed pre match betting. no cash outs before the end .
Still there is hope , live betting is a big change, and hopefully we see something more simular to the exchange .
