@chris-osborne hey Chris, yeah mate all I wanted was Muguruza to hold serve after the break and get another crack at Petra’s serve but I think in hindsight that break was a false dawn as Petra was in total control from midway thru the first. I’m with you on the young Danish girl maybe if she drops the first there could be some value but she does look good, will be interesting to see how she goes against bigger names. Was hoping she dropped the first today but when she won it I had no faith in Badosa to drag it back.

@james-woodroffe Nicely done James
Just 0.5 pts profit for me today - laid Kvitova end of first set, should have cashed out when Muguruza broke but was hoping she would hold serve, didnt work out but never mind
Backed Ferro in first set after she went a break down at 3-2 cashed out when she broke back at 4-4 took that profit and laid her after shee won the set. As you say Golubic won the set 6-0, although I cashed out after the first break.
Cashed out one game too early and the other too late.
I would expect Tauson to win the final in Lyon tomorrow fairly easily but the way this week's gone who knows she looks to be a rising star with a good all court game.
Abu Dhabi starting tomorrow, hopefully easier to trade than this week's been.

Nice productive hour which could have been better.
Backed Muguruza after she lost the first set, she got the early break but couldn’t convert. Had 2 break points at 1-1 and at deuce I got out for 1 point green as I could see Kvitova wasn’t about to let it slip. Much better result in France and considerably less stressful. Laid Ferro at 1.24 and had a healthy green on the other lass removed liability during the set as Ferro crashed to a 0-6 set loss. Greened up for a very healthy profit of just under 9 points and then saw Ferro was up a break in the 3rd so happy I didn’t hang around.
Rublev v Tsitsipas didn’t qualify was looking for Stefanos to win the first and then back Rublev but Tsitsipas seemed to have already run out of gas.
Again wasn’t going to get involved today but everyone was happy doing their own thing at home so I had the opportunity. Nice for the bank also. -
@james-woodroffe I made my money in the first set on that one, backed Ferro when she was 3-0 and two breaks down cashed out when she got one on the breaks back to go 3-2 down. Also Mladenovic ay 1st set winner came in I'm really starting to think its worth laying Cornet, Garcia and Mladenovic from the start all three are dreadful. Cornet and Garcia both played shocking matches this week and Mladenovic is as reliabe as Karolina Pliskova.
The Doha tournament is where its been difficult to trade - only 3 of 23 games have gone to three sets hopefully Abu Dhabi be easier next week

@chris-osborne great to hear mate. With the PSL cancelled and the boy and I deciding we would end our homeschooling relationship today by celebrating back to school on Monday I dipped into the WTA event late this afternoon with the Ferro v Burel match. Got matched at 2.0 for a back of Ferro first game 2nd set and closed out at 2-2 in the 3rd when Ferro lost the break for 2.5 points green. I know I said I was going to wait a week to get back involved but was quite a relaxed afternoon so had the chance.

After a tough few days, back on track today with a 100% strike rate. From reading comments in other places, seems to have been a tough week in general for tennis trading. Hopefully the weekend and next week is easier.
The WTA finally decided to behave like the WTA should and have some theee setters but my goldmine this week and its kept me afloat has been the ATP250 in Argentina which is a tournament I never really thought about trading but am glad I have been.
-
@james-woodroffe Seems fair enough, you have to do what's right for you and the amount of cricket coming up is just insane.
So far its been a tough couple of days to trade tennis wise, I've made mistakes but the only tournament I'm making any money on is the ATP 250 in Argentina.
All a bit of a struggle today, no big losses and no big profits just a batch of scratch trades.
12 out of 12 matches so far in Doha have been won in straight sets which for a WTA tournament must be unheard of. In contrast, the Lyon tournament is just crazy, no one can hold serve. I haven't got on the right side of anything yet. Probably give Doha a miss tomorrow and focus on the other tournaments
-
So another topsy turvey day on the tennis today and I got to the stage where I just thought this is all to difficult at the moment. So with the volume of cricket over the next few days and the fact I’m working the Doha tournament I’ve decided that I’m going to skip the tennis till that’s over. With Junior back at school next week and me away it will just be easier. Once I finish up on Doha and I have the house back to myself and with the tour moving to the states I think then I’ll find it much easier.
I’ll still be active on the tennis forum throwing in my two bobs worth but will get back into it once Doha is done I think. -
@james-woodroffe Fair enough probably need to be a bit more cautious in first couple of days.
Got some back on the Ferro game which was crazy they could barely hold there serve between them
Amongst other games, Bencic v Keys tomorrow could be interesting. Has Bencic recovered having been in Australia until Friday night and more importantly has she sorted her serve out -23 double faults in the semi final and a further 8 in a one sided final v Swiatek is not going to get you competitive in many matches. After pulling out of the Aussie Open with Covid, how fit is Keys.
Sabalenka v Muguruza could be another interesting one, the fact that Garbine played today could be in her favour.
Goodness only knows whats going to happen in Lyon after today Sasnovich v Bouchard probably the most intruiging game tomorrow, both mentally fragile at the best of times could come down to who holds it together.

@chris-osborne I wouldn’t go so far as to say there’s no mileage and they should be avoided but there’s definitely warning signs to look out for. I traded the Brady match when she was down a set and a break early in the 2nd going on her current form but also didn’t take into consideration A) had she been quarantining again? As well as was she up for it and had she mentally checked out to get home and prepare for Miami? I mean really who wants to be in Doha at the best of times let alone when you’ve just made a slam final? I was able to make it up by backing Kerber at good odds 1.84 I think I got when she was down 0-4 but closed out after that set cause I couldn’t fully concentrate. Took a hit on Georgi but I’ll take that as Kuzmova had chances in that 2nd set and as is often the way with the girls, if you blow 3 or 4 break points it’s likely you’ll get broken next service game which is exactly what happened. 3 points Red not the end of the world.

Although there have been some curious results today, had a bit of a schocker especially on the WTA with Alexandrova, Brady, and Cirstea. Withth one game left - the always tradeable Camilla Giorgi although she's a heavy favourite, only been two of 12 main draw matches which have gone to three sets both in Lyon. All the Doha matches we're straight set wins. I wasn't on it due to her current form but the only tradeable game was probably the Kerber game against a player ranked 180. She was 4-0 but then won the 1st set 6-4 and only dropped two games in the 2nd set.
To compund matters, I did something I rarely do and started chasing losses.
Cutting back on stakes for the next couple of days.
What are the thoughts on trading the 1st round of tournaments, I struggled last week in the first round and again today, is there any mileage in not trading first round's?

Morning guys, @Ryan-Carruthers and @Adam will the information in the stats software for WTA Doha and WTA Lyon be up today? Both tournaments commence today. Cheers guys.

@chris-osborne don’t tell my wife and kid mate but having a hotel in London for the Doha tournament and getting some peace and quiet can’t come quick enough there is some great names there for laying first set winners mate here’s to a nice green start to March.
-
@james-woodroffe I agree re Doha the WTA Lyon line up isn't great - Alexandrova at World Rank 33 is top seed. However, there are a stack of mentaly fragile players playing - Cornet, Garcia, Mladenovic, Giorgi and Sasnovich to name 5 which should be good for some laying 1st set winner trades
Not really looked at ATP as yet, although looks a decent field in Rotterdam.
The downside of having tournaments at a sensible time is that I'm supposed to be working.
-
@chris-osborne Doha WTA looks a good field will check the others out. It’s going to be good to have some decent times to trade the tennis. Hopefully Junior keeps his attitude towards just getting his school work done before he goes back next week.
-
Four tournaments starting tomorrow 2 each in WTA and ATP none of which involve sleep deprivation to trade. Although three of the four run concurrently
So far this year my ATP results been better than WTA lets see what damage I can do.
Currently only the ATP Rotterdam showing in the stats hopefully the rest will flow through shortly as draws only available today.

@chris-osborne Lol that's the little law of sods isn't it
