First proper day back and it ended scratch for me. Hung around too long in the Basilvisheli match but got a 0.5 point green was back to scratch after Isner took the first over Davidovich Fokina. Lost a half point on Mertens and made that back with a late decision to lay Siniakova after she took the first against Muguruza. Forgot about the Putinseva match and no trades in the others as the favourites did the job quite easily.

Nice quiet start just one trade straightforward lay 1st set winner in Kudermetova v Putintseva match.

Was a bit of a risk as Kudermetova was dreadful in 1st set but Putintseva has been awful for most of this year and Kuds is simply a far better player.

Removed half liability after Kuds broke early in 2nd set and removed the rest after she held serve in the next game. Cashed out 1pt profit after she went a double break up

A significant thing to watch over the next month is that Andreescu has a tonne of ranking points to defend from her wins two years ago including the US Open. Other than being runner up in Miami to Barty she has done nothing this year with early losses in all three grand slams played to date. Unless there is a dramatic improvement in her form and she has a long run in the US Open which I can't see she will be looking at a spectacular drop in the rankings.

    Afternoon gang.
Going to be easing back into some tennis trading over the next few weeks with the US hard court season kicking off.

    Today.
    ATP Toronto

Isner v Davidoch Fokina. (2.42) I reckon this is a great price for the young Spaniard and will be looking for that to come in during the first set. I’ll let both guys serve a game and then enter if 1-1 expecting a tie breaker.

    Brooksby v Basilshivelli (2.78)

Everyone is pretty excited about this young American kid but despite a semi in the 500 last week he’s still pretty raw on the tour and a Masters is a step up. Will wait for both to serve and back Basil as I believe Brooksby is too short as favourite.

    WTA Montreal

    Mertens v Georgi - Big Pav v Garcia - Kvitova v Ferro
In these 3 matches I’ll be looking to back Mertens, Pav and Kvitova around the 2.0 mark if they drop the first set or if their opponent is serving for the set.

Kudermetova v Putinseva this will be a lay first winner trade.

Got back into it yesterday but made a couple of dumb decisions hopefully I got them out of my system. 🍻

@martin Racing Traders is great especially if you’re not overly technically minded. It’s simple and does the job just fine.

@doug-sharp may be worth trying Racing Traders, I use it because I like how easy it is to use compared to others which can be overly complex.

@doug-sharp I keep threatening to start trying out software but not something I've took the plunge on as yet.

The tennis trades I generally place aren't dependant on entering/exiting at certain points i.e. 0-30 usually at the end of a game or set so can work round it for the most part.

@chris-osborne I'll give software another go I've tried bet angel and geekstoy for free but whilst learning trading and trying software wasn't working.
I'm a manual worker I can only just manage to work a computer but to save risks and getting burnt it might be better in the long run.

As you say the cash out sometimes is crazy.👍

@doug-sharp Betfair tennis scoreboard is a bag of s_____ for want of a better phrase. It’s so far behind it’s embarrassing. Also never updates the broken serve stat in the scoreboard.

Mainproblem I’ve had is it can be a nightmare to cash out at times if you don’t use software which I don’t

    Betfair glitches

Has anyone else had issues or glitches on betfair whilst tennis trading..I use flashscore whilst on betfair to follow the score but whilst I'm not using software for trading just betfair but unfortunately

I've had a few trades wiped out after I've got in as the betfair site readjusts and price moves to quickly... in the green direction or in my case the red.....

I've also noticed goals in football haven't been on the score bar sometime double check before you get involved.

@chris-osborne No worries, anything to help. It’s not just been one year either its been many lol the slams are harder to trade I have found.

That’s a good move - trading is often a lot about looking at when you can trade and what works for you than contorting your life to fit with what you ‘think’ should be happening.

@ryan Strangely seeing that a far better trader than I'll ever be also struggled with Wimbledon makes me feel better.

In all seriousness I'm going to take a step back from the European tournaments and focus on the US and other tournaments which suit me better as and when they start after the Olympics when I can give them my full attention npt just doing bits and pieces here and there

I found Wimbledon tricky this year, Ive mentioned before that the slams are actually harder to trade than the usual challenger events etc....

Time to crank up the Aussie rock and have a Barty Party in Hampshire. Full on Bogan Saturday in honour of Ash.

@james-woodroffe thats a fair comment about about the lack of grass court tournaments.

I also left atp alone and just traded wta. I took a big loss on Svitolina’s pathetic lack of effort and lost a bit of confidence. European tournaments difficult for me to trade anyway for work reasons although easier whilst wfh. Beginning to think it’s not worth my while and waiting until the US tournaments after the Olympics which will be better for me to trade from a timing point of view

Looks like I’ve ended up break even which I’m ok with

@chris-osborne I think it’s a tough tournament mate because of the sheer lack of grass court tennis during the year it’s kinda hard to get a gauge because players play so little on it. I couldn’t access Betfair on site as it was blocked even with data and not using wifi so it made it easy to not bother in the first week. The outrights were done when I was home but the players move back to the hard courts now so it’s probably going to be easier to judge as we know their strengths on the surface.

@james-woodroffe not a bad return and well done on the outrights. I’ve found it a difficult tournament to trade
