@andrew-camp yep lay the first set winner, these players like to have 3 set matches regularly. Watching is a good idea if you are able just to see if one player is not tanking
I understand you get out for a loss if the first set winner breaks in the second or wins it, but do you have a 'greening-up' strategy?

Many thanks.

Good morning.
I am interested in adding tennis to my portfolio of sports that I trade.
I've decided, with the start of the Australian Open, to follow the games that have been flagged up in the 'Lay the first set winner', in the strategy section of this site.
Could I ask, is it simply a case of doing what it says on the tin, ie lay whoever wins the first set, whether it's the favourite or the underdog or should we have other things in our mind too? Obviously watching pictures is ideal but that's not always possible with tennis especially where multiple courts are not being shown.
Thank you.

@mj-hunt Good luck I'm focussing on the WTA until they get to Europe. Like the Anisimova and Tauson bets
Anisimova already won a tournament and seems to be back on track after a poor couple of years. Her first round match should be fairly straightforward but she should be facing Bencic in 2nd round which could go anyway.
Tauson seems to have developped a habit of retiring over the past 12 months which is a concern she should beat Sharma as long as her fitness is ok but she wont't get much joy from Kontaveit who she should face in the next round
Burel for me falls perfectly into the middle of the mentally fragile French ladies alongside Cornet, Mladenovic, Garcia and Ferro seen her collapse from a winning position more than once. That being said she ended last year well but she plays Muguruza who she is outclassed against
Collins is a player I have a massive problem with mainly because of her constant screaming and shouting and obvious feeling of entitlement that she has and that she thinks she is better than she is. She'll beat Dolehide easily but will have a massive struggle in the next round against either Konjuh or Rogers both of whom are more than capable of beating her.
-
Took a punt before the draw backed the players below to cause an upset or two but the draw not been overly kind for a couple and think I might be looking at a reduced interest after the first round matches.
Anisimova
Tauson
Burel
CollinsAm expecting Burel to shine on the clay this season and Tauson to cause problems on hard courts for some top players. Anisimova and Potapova couple of others I am looking at this season, nothing new there really.
Looks some decent first round match ups, I can only comment on WTA as that is all I trade but good luck everyone for hopefully a great tourney

Court has upheld the decision to deport the Djoker.
I’ve just backed Medvedev, Zverev and Nadal hoping to see them come in a little.
Market now suspended an hour later. Surprised it took that long. Let’s see how the dust settles
Ok so out of the market now for a small piece of green.
Medvedev - Small Loss
Zverev - Broke even trade
Nadal - Backed $8.80 and Layed @ $7.20 for a nice bit of easy green -

Top half of both draws ie Djokovic side of the draw are being played on Monday.
This debacle needs sorting before then otherwise integrity of the tournament is compromised.
I would expect him to be playing the night session or should be if the organiser’s have any sense to give more time for legal shenanigans to be resolved. Mind you that would mean crowds at 50% capacity baying for blood
I can’t see it being done by Monday night. I don’t have any strong foundation for the statement other than feels unlikely hearing would be all done in that time.
It’s such a circus!

@sean-fitzgerald I see they just cancelled it again haha!
Hear he's either looking at jail time or community service haha. Be funny to see him litter picking or something.
It’s all a bit farcical. The talk is he’ll appeal and they are trying to get the hearing for Monday. You would think that’s a long shot given submissions and what not required for court.
I had a cheeky lay on him @ $2.94 on the basis of two possibilities:
-
He’s cleared to play and his prep is down the toilet and headspace must be impacted.
-
He plays whilst appeal is being held and then is forced to withdraw if appeal unsuccessful.
He’s now drifted out to $3.45.
