2022 Tennis Trading Thread

Noticed this week more than a lot of weeks how scheduling can hurt player's chances. Especially when the whole tournament is played in just one week, like masters series are.
For example Halep plays a really tough match Saturday night against Sharapova, then has to play the final at midday on Sunday. That was around 14 hrs rest, she was comfortably beaten. Her opponent Svitolina played early Saturday.
Djokovic has a tough 3 set match on Friday night against Nishikori, then has to play Nadal at around 2pm on Saturday, again well under a day rest. Loses in straight sets. Nadal played early Friday morning.
Finally,
Zverev plays a tough 2 set match v Cilic really late Saturday night, then has to play Nadal at 3pm the next day. Again well under a days rest (at 21 he almost got away with it).
The point is top sportsmen and women need rest and less than a day gives the body no chance of a decent recovery.
How to take advantage of this?
If the player who may be fatigued can muster up the adrenaline to get ahead early you may be able to lay them at short prices. Zverev went to at least 1.6 vs Nadal and Halep was available well above evens to beat Sharapova in play.
Svitolina's win v Halep was a little different as Halep never got that adrenaline boost but being the world number one meant Halep was still available to lay at close to evens after her slow start.
Anyway, worth keeping an eye on when trading tennis. Some players time on court and time they last played can be a huge advantage over their opponent. I will leave you with this:
Sharapova time on court to reach semi-finals - 9hr45mins
Halep time on court to reach semi-finals - 2hr15mins -
@ryan-carruthers good point! Cheers bud, and thanks for the ultra quick response too!

@simon Hi Simon,
I don't filter them from there no - I load them up and follow the scores as a lot might not get there anywhere so they naturally filter themselves out.
-
@Ryan-Carruthers quick question re your 3-3/4-4 filter, notice quite a few matches on it today. Do you trade all of them where possible or do you narrow them down at all from what the filter shows?
-
@luke-paull exactly! we need some fellas taking up the space.
Maybe that’s a good way to look at losing days - oh well I’ve just made another traders day.
-
@ryan-carruthers good point plus everybody would be doing it and who would be taking our trades on the other side
-
@luke-paull Same! We'd get bored though wouldn't we?
-
3-0 Nadel and I’m out. Wish they were all that easy
-
@stephen-morfey well he got that first set now que the fogi melt down
-
@stephen-morfey I agree! This isn't going to be a Foggy day!
-
@ryan-carruthers Fognini's up again now against Nadal, but I only trade him when he's heavy odds on, so unlikely I'll be getting involved today.

ATP Rome 1.00pm Busta v Cilic
I like this match up here, I have Cilic at 1.25, so his current price of 1.57 is value but not enough for me to get in on him from the start I will be looking to back Cilic at 1.70 or above. Cilic leads the H2H 2-0 but on their last meet in Jan of this year Busta pushed him hard especially in the first set which is what I will be looking for here so that I can back Cilic at a higher price, look for Cilic to be using his serve as it is one of his biggest weapons and I want to see him attacking Busta as this is another strength and when he is attacking players he can really do well on points!

@stephen-morfey Love it! Love the name for him !
-
Mr "consistently inconsistent" Fognini is up at 11am
-
@luke-paull I agree! He's got some serious talent but he is a nutter!!
