hedged out for a loss when etch broke, layed sinner at 1.18 amd removed some liability after break.
-
having a small lay on etcheverry got in at 1.4
-
Yeah that's not uncommon in the womens games. And yes it does depend, for me at least anyway.
If the player you have layed is broken I would either remove liability, hedge or let it run. If the player is showing no signs of recovering then either let it run or remove liability depending on confidence levels. Also if they are 2 breaks down it is usually a good time to hedge or remove liability. -
I've gone in on Bjorklund vs Tauson today. Met my Filter criteria and I've watched the game on Flashscore for the first set.
Tauson won first set 7-5 but lost her serve twice in the set. Its amazing how volatile the Women's game is! Unless this is a game out of the ordinary of course.
Do you hedge out if the person you layed loses a service game or stay in until the 2nd set is decided? I'm guessing your answer is going to start with "Depends...."

Thanks Craig, appreciate that. I teach from home so have a pretty decent set up with 3 monitors so I'll definitely keep the other sources open on a separate screen. I'm guessing the Score Stats are quicker than the "Live" picture you can get on Ladbrokes so I'll stick to that.
I know this sounds perverse but Tennis isn't really even a sport I like, but that's one of the reasons I feel its good for me to trade so I can keep all emotion out of it.
My portfolio is going to be full of sports I would never watch on TV normally

@Taff-Phillips No problem, ask whatever you like. Im certainly no pro tennis trader but have a bit of experience trading it so will try to help out where I can. I will be hoping to get involved with trading the french open next week so will try to post on here when I'm trading. When you are trading/watching with software it may be worth having open something like bet365 and also flashscore so you can keep up to date with the real time score and also the in play stats which I find really useful.

Thanks for the reply Craig, Lay Set 1 Winner seemed like a good option for a beginner. I do have Trading Software, I personally use Bet Jet Pro and it is excellent for all I require. I'll definitely take your advice on watching some games and recording game by game how points/games/sets affect the odds. Initially I was just looking for a very basic strategy with the 1st Set Lay, but following your advice I can see will give me a wealth of information to progress to swing trading when I feel confident/capable.
Noted your point on the odds not being so important for you, I will just record them for now and see if there is any data I can mine to help with future filters.
Appreciate the advice but be warned once I've started recording data I will probably be back with more questions
Have a good day, whatever you are trading mate.

@Taff-Phillips this is just my point of view I have traded tennis for a decent amount of time but I still have plenty to learn myself. I would say lay the 1st set winner is a good option for getting started. Using software to trade in play would be recommended however you can get by for a while without if you are just keeping it simple. I would recommend watching a few matches to see how the odds change when there is a break of serve, set winner etc.
If you are just keeping it simple you could check tennis24 or flashscore to see the point by point stats to get an idea of how the they have performed if you don't want to watch the match in play.
The underdog going ahead early happens more often than you would think and womens tennis can be more volatile. For me the odd range between the 2 players is not that important, finding favourites that have been caught cold or the dog starting to feel the pressure of going ahead are the kind of things I look for, provided the players who have gone behind show some promise of getting back into the game. -
With my football strategies pretty much nailed down for next season I'm looking to expand into other sports and have been looking at Tennis.
As a start I thought the "Lay Set 1 Winner" might be a gentle start. I had a look at your filter and was wondering why you don't have any odds filters?
I get the Over 3 Sets % bit, that makes perfect sense to me. But I had initially made a filter by narrowing the Odds between 1.75 and 2.25 for both Players. My thinking being that two evenly matched players would more likely go the extra sets. If there is a heavy fave does that not normally mean they more often than not take the first two sets without reply?
Your thoughts would be appreciated as I start this new venture.
If there are any other experienced Tennis Traders in here I'd also love to hear your thoughts and advice for a Tennis Noob!!

@clive-howlett Not sure how to play it – maybe a back the server game ? Starting shortly

Should be a cracking final in Miami tonight Unsure about how this is going to go? Sinner played brilliantly coming from a set down to Alcaraz, but can he play at that intensity again against Medvedev? Medvedev loves fast courts and this court is lightening fast. I like Medvedev but you can never get a price on him until he plays a final. But like I said, it's a tough one

@alan-cowan I did have a go at it but found that you really have to be focused on the match - I would say you have to watch it. The filters that are for members works. I came out with a very small profit - but was very conservative when to take profit. It was a test really. The problem is to find the correct "take-profit" point.
I also think there are two kind of matches. One that swings = profit and one that goes in one direction - which can also be profit . But the lay the first set filter is profitable - you just have to "babysit" it. Someday in the future I will try with some automation but is very early days for me. Very new to BTC and the stats we have. I see great potential though. -
Mertens and Cornet really need to retire bad defeat after bad defeat - both lost matches today in two sets they should be winning 6-1/6-2

@chris-osborne One of my faves!

I'm having that same issue with the tennis software now just wanting to make sure its not just me?
There is no top level tour tournaments today, only challenger and qualies from what I can see
