I think the next gen are slowly starting to gain ground on the big 3 and the one guy I’ll be really interested in watching next year is Danil Medvedev. His rise was a big surprise in 2019 he’s like a Djokovic clone and like he showed in NYC he has the mental strength to block out crowds (being the underdog works for him) and more importantly the ability to go 5 sets something that Zverev is yet to show although I reckon he gets a tough time given what he’s shown at a young age. I think by the time Medvedev got to London he had nothing left in the tank and the rest will serve him well. That kid has it all so he’s going to be one I monitor closely in Melbourne. Also Felix Auger Allisame is one who might sneak under the radar. He’s a kid a lot of guys might not have heard of but he’s a future superstar don’t worry about that. I worry a bit about Federer now and at this stage of his career and saw enough last year to make me think that I’ll be laying him in the outrights from next year. Djokovic is still the one to beat and he loves Melbourne. We have a massive Serb community in Melbourne and it’s helped Novak win 7 Opens in the past and he’d be my tip to go 8. Especially since he got Vaidja back in his camp and sorted out his problems with Mrs Novak and more importantly got rid of his idiot spiritual guru Pepe. Rafa is Rafa and of course Tsitipas will be in calculation but again over 5 sets there’s blokes I’d put above him. As for the women get onboard the Barty Party. If the pressure doesn’t get to her she will take a hell of a lot of beating. Queensland girl used to the stupid heat it looks like we will get in Melbourne this summer she would be my pick at this stage.

Would now be a good time to start thinking of the Aussie open? Usual 3 suspects for the men? Or do we think someone else can actually stand up and be counted?
I think the ladies is as wide open as it can be.

@keith-dow next year I’ll be in Melbourne for the Aussie Open as well as Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome, Wimbledon and the US Open. I’ll be hoping to relay information to the forum that I pick up whilst on site.

Maybe you could be one of those point spotters !!

@martin-futter I've been listening to your podcasts and watching the videos and seen tennis come up a lot. Thought I'd check it out a little deeper. I love the way the market swings so quickly and over-reacts. I can see that there's massive potential. I also think as a trader it would make sense to have a wider portfolio of sports and strategies (eventually, I'm probably far from that stage just now but it's good to dream!!).

Was reading the BTC strategies (again) and thought I'd have a look at Tennis, which is far removed from my knowledge base. Stumbled across a match that seemed to fit the "lay after the first set" strategy. Thought I'd have a wee punt for fun. Layed for £2 liability and hedged at the end of the 2nd set for £3. Magnificent work yet again gentlemen.

Created a lay the first set winner filter to test out next season, I will post the selections in here, first one:

    Atp - Singles Finals - London 15/11/2019 12:00:00 Nadal R. Tsitsipas S.

first one a winner! not including it as Tsitsi did not need to win.

@Martin-Futter I look forward to them.
I find the time required for tennis trading to be quite a draw back, waiting for games to start, rain delays, games in odd time zones etc. I've had some success with placing straight bets at higher odds to be matched in play but I've not really got any criteria to identify potential games and thus the strike rate can be poor. It would be helpful if you could identify good opportunities for hands off value betting or dutching.

@jim_saywer got a task set to have 5 up by start of next season. End of season break after this week for a month so won’t be much tennis on.

@Martin-Futter Some example tennis filters would be really helpful. I'm not really sure how to get anything meaning full from the tennis software. cheers

Slight issue is Tsitsi does not need to win, so I will actually not include this!
