Happy to finish off the women’s side of the Open with some nice green. After backing Kenin in the first set took some red but laid Muguruza after she won the first set. Got some green back when it went the distance but closed out before that remarkable game in the 3rd when Kenin peeled off 5 winners after being 0-40. Amazing performance from Kenin.
-
Trading aside, this is a fantastic final to watch as a fan
-
@rob-arkell Nicely played
-
Just now is a perfect example. I layed Garbine when she broke serve, greened out when Kenin broke back and backed Garbine straight away, she broke back immediately so nice greens for me
-
@rob-arkell What you are doing is exactly right though matey, get that nailed down then you start to see oh the player does this a lot and it becomes part of your trading arsenal.
-
TBH, as I'm new to this, my focus has been more on patterns of play than the players individually. Looking at how the market moves and when to get involved.
I need to watch a lot more tennis to get a good idea of each player -
@rob-arkell Yep, I have been a fan of him and the Greek lad for years. I just think the tall lad needs to have a bit more grit about him he doesn't seem to be able to go up a gear and really kill off his opponent when he has them on the ropes.
-
That tall German is deff one to keep an eye on this season, Zverev, the one who lost to Thiem.
Great serve, a bit erratic when he comes to the net though -
@ryan-carruthers It's been interesting because the old guard in the mens game are coming to the end of their careers and the young lads coming through have a lot of motivation when playing against the likes of Rafa, Stan, Roger (Novak is just a freak)
So they get some breaks but find it hard to hold serve straight after. -
@rob-arkell Yep I was that way for many years, I have missed trading it but now I feel better prepared for the tennis season.
What have you noticed about the players?

This is the first year in forever I haven't really traded the AUS Open, I feel so much more relaxed and have slept this year lol
This is my first year trading a major tennis tournament. Pretty relaxed but haven't slept for sh!t. lol

Going with an early back of Kenin at 2.74 for tonight’s final against Muguruza who’s 1.54 and I think a touch short. Kenin has definitely been one to monitor over the past 12 months and Muggy has had some slow starts this tournament. Let’s see how it progresses.

Funny. I'm reading this having just traded on New Zealand at 1.01. Great advice, I love this community

@ryan-carruthers Any tips on exit points for tennis?
At the start of the Oz open I was getting a lot of profit. Now, not so much. The frustrating thing is that I've had green on practically evry trade. Knowing when to get out has been a problem
-
@rob-arkell I've got a stack of them
-
@ryan-carruthers I've got a notebook of mistakes I've made. It's filling up a bit too fast
-
@rob-arkell It's very true this.
I think thinking back over the trades and thinking about what I did wrong, what I learnt etc.... the thinking time has had a huge impact on my trading.
