@james-woodroffe great news on the work front.
I also traded the same two games as you with similar results.
No end of games today

A ok day to start Miami and a bit of a mental shift. Last week I posted about how I felt a bit lost due to lack of work and struggling with boredom and definitely using trading as a bit of a crutch. Not being in Miami didn’t help but over the weekend my calendar started to get full and I even had the experience of turning down work which clashed with other bookings something I would have killed for last year. Seeing that light made me re focus.
So suddenly I don’t have this all encompassing urge to earn thru trading I can take a step back and re focus on what has always been the goal (pre Covid) and that is not have to constantly be on the road by the time I’m 50 in 4 years time.
Today I had 7 matches on my short list and ended up trading 2 of them. I went down 2 points when I backed Peterson after she dropped the first set. She was broken immediately at the start of the 2nd and I bailed out and she lost in straight sets.
In the other match I backed Potapova at 2.32 trailing 1-4 in the first set. She climbed back to 4-4 and at break point to serve for the set she was 1.29. I greened up for just over 4 points and got out and she lost 7-5 6-0.
It’s how I will go with anyone outside the top 10 on the WTA going forward. I don’t want the break I want the break point and get in and out and just slowly build green and not stay in the markets longer than I need to. Happy with a tick over 2 points for the day on the tennis happier with the change in other things. Really determined to become a successful trader without now putting added pressure on myself to make large green. Will stick to a more process based way to trade and let the bank take care of itself without putting pressure on myself. -
Something about me and the 1st day if tournaments that doesn't seem to go to plan.
5 traded 5 matches but only saw green on the Potapova match from backing her when 2 breaks down in 1st set, she pluued back to level at which point I exited which was a good move as she lost the set, everything else didn't go go well
I would get involved in the same matches again, the only one that's annoyed me is Bouzkova who based on form should never be losing to Rus but she had a shocker.
To me, Venus Williams should seriously think about retiring, she is a pale shadow of the player she used to be, whether her and Serena want to retire at the same time I'm not sure but would make sense especially if they did so at the US OPen. She would have anihalated Zarina Diyas a couple of years ago but other than a bref fightback in the 2nd set lost in straight sets

@chris-osborne agree really disappointing field for the men’s the women’s however looks super strong. With such a strong field will be quite picky during the first couple of days but have my eye on a couple of potentials this afternoon if they qualify.
I have a short list of 7 matches 4 of which are to back the favourite if they drop the first set.
Will see what transpires plenty of tennis over the next 10 days. -
We have One of the biggest tournaments outside of the slams starting tomorrow and running until Easter Sunday in Miami which closes out this part of the hard court season before the clay tournaments start in April.
Decent field in WTa with only Serena and Vekic both through injury from the top 30 not playing. Same can not be said for the ATP tournament.
With very little football and games at a time that suit me better looking forward to getting stuck into it.

@chris-osborne yeah no value on Karatsev yet so happy to chill.
-
@james-woodroffe Did the same as you on Kasatkina but was on the wrong side of Zvonareva
If Garatsev gets broken will back as odds rubbish at the minute other than that will wait until Monterrey later
-
Cool start to the day backed Daria at 2.04 in the first and just closed out as she broke Kuznetsova first game in the 3rd. Backed Zvonoreva down a set and early break closed out when she had 2 set points in the breaker which was good cause she choked.
Looking to get Karatsev at about 2.0 or if he drops the first to Harris. -
@chris-osborne imagine their WhatsApp group?
-
@ryan-carruthers The likes of Medvedev, Tsitipas and Rublev probably can't believe there luck
-
@chris-osborne just a few big names out, eh?
-
@james-woodroffe Good stuff
Bit of a non event for me yesterday, lost on Alexandrova got distracted and missed my exit point but made it back on Kasatkina and Fernande in Monterrrey last night.
Agree with you on Karatsev, definitely one to watch, if he's playing in Miami next week could be someone to keep an eye on. With so many players having pulled put of the ATP tournament it could be wide open
Not sure what I'll do today if anything, KAsatkina is always a bit of a wild ride her serve it so unreliable at times she has been broken 15 times in three matches but she has also broken 18 times

Pretty decent day today but oh could have been so much better. Backed the young Romanian against Kuznetsova and greened up after she won the first set my plan was to then lay her expecting Kuznetsova to come back but got sidetracked and left it alone. Kuz cruised thru sets 2 and 3 but all good. Then accidentally double clicked on a back of Kasakstina when she hit my entry point. Obviously didn’t want a double stake as I wanted to back her again if she dropped the first. Which she did 6-1 I spent the 2nd set crawling back my red and managed to get out for a tiny loss as she won the 2nd 6-1 she then rubbed salt in the wounds by winning the decider 6-2 so the trade was good the double click not so much. Finished off with Rublev leaving it late to close out the 2nd set against Karatsev to level the match. I backed Rublev at 11.0 as Karatsev served for the match and could have added to the green when Rublev had break point to level it at 5-5 but held on a point to long when Karatsev got it back to deuce I closed out, fortunately as he held and wrapped it up. He’s come from nowhere this year Karatsev but he can seriously play and will be one to monitor this year he’s definitely no flash in the pan. Had my eye on a couple of others in particular wanted to back Shapavalov if he dropped the first but he didn’t so I left it alone and like Karatsev, Harris can play. Ignored the Zvonoreva match also as she won the first and pretty much cruised.
Decent day. -
@martin-futter cheers Martin, was able to realise that I had been on Monday and Tuesday so was good to realise it and make a conscious effort to just take a deep breath and remember I had a rare opportunity to do things other than trade that I normally wouldn’t get to do.

@james-woodroffe this might be worth a read: https://betfairtradingcommunity.com/en/blog/why-do-most-betfair-sports-traders-fail
I give some ideas of what to do instead of trading when you are tempted to overtrade!

So the last couple of days have been ok but the main thing being is that I’ve gone back to my match list for the day and set entry and exit points as a result.
No doubt being home and with the boy back at school I definitely overtraded probably because until I go away again I don’t really know what to do with my time when I’m not on the road and under normal circumstances I’d be in the US now. So over trading thru boredom and forgetting to have a plan set me back a little.
Not surprising that yesterday ended up being a good day because I knew what I wanted out of the markets. I still had a fair list but I was just getting in and out taking either green or red and just moving on. Especially with the WTA events given the weaker fields and the unpredictable nature of the players. I’ll start to look at removing all liability after the 2nd set and letting trades run with players I feel more confident in their abilities to get the job done coming back from a set down but for the moment it’s pretty much in and out. Also to finish I’m not concerning myself with daily profit or loss I’m just going to look at it monthly. A good green yesterday followed by tiny red today still means I’m tracking in the right direction and can’t afford to be “having to make it back tomorrow”. It will go in swings and roundabouts but if I stick fat to the process it will take care of itself. -
Fiona Ferro v Vera Zvonareva.1st set went to Ferro so laid and Zonareva has broken early in the 2nd so got a lovely swing. Looks like she's going to take the 2nd now she's held serve.

@james-woodroffe good luck James probably a day off for me unless something in Mexico this evening on conf calls from 12 to 5 with the members stats webinar at 7 might just give it a miss today
-
Taking a different approach to today I’ve come up with a match list like I used to have and will be trying something different as I look to push on after a couple of up and down days.
Shapavalov v Hurcatz first up. -

@james-woodroffe Got my eye on Stephens and Tormo games both should win but depends if Stephens is interested.
That was embarrassing from Stephens unless she sorts out her attitude and focus, she is finished as a tennis player. She clearly thinks she is better than she is and needs to start treating opponents she should be beating easily with respect
