2022 Tennis Trading Thread

Nice start to the new week, backed Sasnovich at 2.40 in the 1st set after she went down an early break. She broke back but then gave up the break and lost the 1st 6-2 held my position and she won the 2nd 6-1 before taking a early break in the 3rd. She couldn’t consolidate so have taken my green at 1-1 in the 3rd.
Busy week by the looks of it. -
@james-woodroffe I did similar on RBA but did make a bit back on Medvedev laid from the start at 1.07 he went 3bp’s down early on, I cashed out when he got 2 back.
-
1 trade today and didn’t go to script. Backed RBA after he dropped the first in Doha to Basil. Had a couple of break point opportunities but didn’t take them. Got out when Basil broke for 4-2 in the 2nd.
Bit of a hit but that’s ok was happy to see Basil go on with it. He’s a good player who’s been thru the ringer so it’s a good story.
I’ll be happy to get back into it next week junior is back at school so it’ll make things work better for me and not away again till April 10 I think.
Hoping to build on Dubai next week and the WTA in full swing. -
After only 1 out of 16 wta matches going to 3 sets yesterday good to see 2 out of 3 going the distance today. Makes trading so much easier.
Couple of decent games as well although Muguruza v Sabalenka needs a public health warning due to decibel levels
-
@james-woodroffe thanks James I’m kind of coming round to that way of thinking myself.
Safe to say the Teichmann trade didn’t go to plan. For someone who was known as mainly a clay courter, she’s on a decent run of form over the past few tournaments not just this week.
-
@james-woodroffe @Chris-Osborne Thanks guys. Just off the Evans v Fed match and greened out as didn't want a potential tie break. Yes the girls can be tricky as server only holds 60% of the time compared to mens's 80%. Trying to make as much of this time before I got back to work in April.
-
@chris-osborne hey Chris with the WTA I tend to green up because the girls can blow opportunities however with the bigger names in the men’s I remove liability once they get a break in the decider as they tend to not let them slip but I don’t trust the girls that much. Also hi @Karl-McCarthy and welcome mate.
-
@karl-mccarthy hi Karl and welcome.
Missed the Mug trade due to work calls, only one I’ve really traded today was the Bencic game had a big loss at one stage in the first set but removed the liability leaving a freebet and potential profit at the end of the 2nd although she then proceeded to lose the 3rd set. I have laid Teichmann at start of the 2nd
Need to decide whether or not to keep with the freebets or just cash out as most of the time ending up with scratch trades
-
High quality match in Doha with Federer returning to the tour and playing Dan Evans.
Took a nice green earlier today with a back of Thiem at 2.50 after dropping the first set to Karatsev. -
@chris-osborne Only new to this and esp tennis trading but saw early on Muguruza was going to dominate so made a nice profit from that. Teichmann v Jabeur starting shortly so might take a look at that.

@adam-williams Thanks Adam its appreciated

Hi guys, apologies - NONE of the above tags appeared in my inbox which is a bit worrying!
I've added Dubai and it should appear in 2 hours or so.
The reason this keeps happening is because Betfair re-name their tennis tournaments every year, so it looks like a brand new tournament which hasn't been verified and enabled yet from the software's point of view (i.e. WTA Dubai 2020 vs 2021, instead of just "WTA Dubai").
I just need to make the software handle this, it's on my list

Thanks Martin

@chris-osborne I've messaged @adam-williams asking him to reply

@adam, @Ryan-Carruthers ,Any chance we can have some stats for today's WTA games in Dubai please.
I guess its a timing issue pending a daily update
A few of interesting games today - Swiatek v Muguruza, Pegula v Ka Pliskova, Kontaveit v Sabalenka and Teichmann v Jabeur all of which could go to three sets. Will potentially be looking to lay the 1st set winner in all of these other than Pliskova who's games I am currently avoiding
Been a mixed couple of days so far this week, work has meant I haven't traded as much as I would have liked.
Monday had a strong day going but yesterday can be summed up by having a freebet on Kvitova when she retired, at least I didn't lose anything. I missed that she had an MTO for some reason which may have caused me to think twice. Having said that there are so many MTO's that alot of them are purely tactical. Also one of those days where I didn't stay in long enough - Gauff v Vondrousova being a classic example .
-
@adam-williams, @Ryan-Carruthers can we have the stats for the WTA Dubai Duty Free tournament in dubai please which started yesterday and we're available for yesterday's games but nothing for today where there are 17 games scheduled
Also there is a WTA 250 tournament in Mexico starting today not showing in the stats either

Nothing day for me today but to be fair wasn’t really a day for trading with family stuff taking precedence. Had a plan to lay Cornet if she won the first but didn’t get home in time for that one. Had a plan to lay first set winner in Coco’s match but got sidetracked. Did however lay Bill Murray up a set and a break against Sakkari and removed liability at 5-5 stuck around for the tie break but Sakkari lost so my only trade ended scratch.
Probably me done now till Friday, looking forward to getting back to work for a few days I’ve had a look at the order of play for tomorrow in Doha and it’s pretty uninspiring but Fed’s return on Wednesday will be very interesting. -
Couple of points to the good today all from the 1st round of WTA Dubai although I tried hard to give it back in the Sakkari game.
Profits mainly came from the 1st set of the Gauff v Alexandrova game although if I'd laid the server all the way through could have got more from it and also the 1st set of the Kuznetsova game.
Also had a freebet on Ksatkina against Cornet after laying Cornet after the 1st set. Although Kasatkina won the 2nd, she ended up losing in the third. I've been critical of Cornet recently but to be fair she played better today. Gauff needs to cut out the double faults if she is to make the progress she should be doing.
Goodness only knows what Sakkari was doing against Krejckova not backed her when she went a break down in the 1st set, cashed out after she fell a break down and didn't convert break points in the next two return games she eventually got back in the set and took it to a tiebreak but that was as good as it got. Not the first time Sakkari lost a game she should have won easily, and she i now on my list of players who need to show something along with Karolina Pliskova before I consider getting involved in there games again.
Also tried to back Tauson after she went a breakdown in the Lyon final but wasn't quick enough and she ended up winning the title in only her 3rd main tour tournament. Definitely someone to watch out for going forward.
17 games scheduled in Dubai tomorrow along with another WTA tournament in Mexico anf three ATP tournaments starting, won't be short of games to trade.
