I now work in IT so that degree was pointless lol

@jarratt-perkins
I don't mind you saying it at all matey, BTC is always on the hunt to improve and everything we can do to make it better. That's one of the reasons we are working on a horse racing software as we see how active football threads can be - software giving people selections and ideas to bounce off each other its thriving. Those guys you mentioned started smashing it up on the horse racing thread it drove loads of engagement - we shall be adding software in.
Looking forward to your post later Wicked! What did you study?

So, for a while the forum was a bit dead (Hope you don’t mind me saying that) but I have to congratulate the work @Charles-Cartwright has done with sharing his trades and thoughts in very good detail and especially @Dave-Jessop and @John-Folan for showing how they develop their ideas and also how it changes as it goes. I also love how they have shared their bots and also selections. I see a lot on the internet about traders losing their edge if they share too much, but I don’t believe that.
So I have taken Johns SIR DOBS and started to run the automation on selections and I have had few ideas on improvements which I will share later today and I am looking on using Charles selections as they are making him money and he is a very knowledgeable guy clearly so I would be silly to go against it and not join his journey . So, the other thing I hate is when people just take. These guys are doing this for free and are happy to help others, so I decided to get involved because I believe it works both ways and I don’t want to be just taking all these ideas without contributing.Love Notts – Actually, a Yorkshire man but my wife and I went to Uni at Trent and basically just stayed here lol

@jarratt-perkins Spot on!! Love it May I ask as you have been a self confessed lurker in the community what was the switch that made you want to comment buddy?
Not far from me in Nottingham matey, cracking place. Like the goals as well

Hello All,
I have been lurking in the forum for a month now and thought I would start contributing to the conversations and provide help where I can.
I am hoping getting involved in some of the projects and providing my input, will help myself as well as others.
Who you are? My name is Jarratt Perkins and when I am not trading, I am usually running
Where you are from? Nottingham
What stage are you at in your trading journey? I will call myself medium and a high to low scale. I know what to do but could be A LOT better.
What's your background? I usually trade on football - second half goals ltd mostly and go by watching the game (I don’t like football which infuriates my wife lol) and going in with no stake limit or stats to back up my selections just feel which can go wrong! Luckily, I have had success in this, but I am now looking for a more structured automated portfolio that I can set and forget. I am also looking to get involved with the NAGS more as I love horse racing and the stats behind it and have also bet on these in the past but never really looked from a trading point of view.
I have a server at home which I run Bet angel on and have some Python scripts that are currently scraping results so I can automate my picks quicker (This what I have done this last month).
My usual goal is to get enough for a Laptop or a holiday. Nothing too big, but now, I would like to build a bank and use it as a second income.
Why did you join BTC? I have dropped in and out for a year now but never been fully committed and I think I will need this group to help me pursue my goals and keep motivation
What do you hope to get from the community? What are some of your trading goals? I think I explained these last 2 points above
If nobody minds, I would like to just dive into the open convos and get cracking. Although I have not said anything, following the convos it seems I already know you guys a little lol -
Who you are? - Dai (Welsh name for David)
Where you are from? - West Wales but now living in Cardiff
What stage are you at in your trading journey? - Still in the early days trying to find my feet and a bit of structure in my trading. Joined the BTC last year looking for some strategies to try and implement but I ended up just trying a little bit of everything over staking, going back in to gambling mode, chasing loses, blowing banks etc and just being an erratic mess if I'm being honest.
Since then I have taken a break from trading and have just been studying the fundamentals of what it takes to become a successful trader i.e the phycological side of things, bank management, having an edge, being disciplined and patient etc. What's your background? - Left home when I was 21 and just went and travelled the world for the past 6 years (Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, Indonesia. (mainly worked in construction along the way ). Had to return home end of last year due to my visa being up in Australia.
Why did you join BTC? - Re joined because I remember it being a helpful, friendly community last time even though I didn't really engage, will try to do so more this time around.
Also it doesn't matter how much I try and theoretically study about being a successful trader I still need to spend time in the markets to become one and am hoping I can pick up a lot of value from some of the senior members in here to help me do so.What do you hope to get from the community? - My plan is to really focus in on a few strategies to master starting off to give me that confidence in what I am doing , the problem I have is I do find it quite overwhelming at times as In there's countless strategies for every sport and there are many different angles in which to trade each one.
Also i'd like some advice on when to tweak/when to bin. I know that if you have an edge in a market and you're staking sensibly over the long term probabilities will be in your favour, the variance will even out and that % edge you have will eventually pay off and you will need patience and discipline to get to that point but how long in to trying something out should you start to question if you actually do have an edge and you're not just slowly wasting time and money with your system.I'd say football and rugby are my favourite sports. I'm looking to try an focus on football at the moment.
Would you suggest using a select few of the filters which have already been tested and proven profitable and just giving it time?
What are some of your trading goals? -
short term: focus in a select few strategies and nailing them, being + points in each over the next 6 months then build from there.
medium term: have a portfolio of different profitable strategies from different sports
long term: to go full time so when I go back traveling and can do this for a living ( a hell of a lot of work needed before then, I know) -
@dave-jessop Cheers buddy!
I'll definitely be taking a look at Ryan's mentality videos!
-
Hi all!!!
Who are you? Pete Nisbet
Where are you from? Cornwall
What stage are you at in your trading journey? I'm a beginner. I've had a couple of attempts at trading that lasted a couple of months. Limited success with overs and LTD but my biggest downfall was my lack of discipline!
What's your background? I'm a small business owner.
Why did you join BTC? To improve my trading and meet like-minded people who enjoy trading too!
What do you hope to get from the community? Ah, I think I answered this above.
What are some of your trading goals? I don't have many goals. My previous attempts at trading showed me that you need to take things step by step, don't go in with all guns blazing! It might sound a bit unambitious but my first goal is to have a profitable month - and then build from there.Looking forward to getting going!

@jordan-kane welcome to the community buddy! Great that you are here, you’ll fit in great anything you need let me know.
-
hello everyone!
Who you are?
Jordan Kane
Where you are from?
Glasgow
What stage are you at in your trading journey?
Relatively new to trading, have done a lot of research and reading so understand the basics but looking to really get stuck into it. My starting bank will be around £500 which I have built from matched betting, starting with small stakes in order to develop my knowledge and skills further.
What's your background?
I am currently an accountant for a car retail business, married with one daughter.
Why did you join BTC?
I have been researching trading for almost a year now and I am really interested in it and excited to try and make some money. Eventually decided to take the plunge and join the community so that I could share my journey with like-minded people and hopefully benefit from the skills of the members.
What do you hope to get from the community?
Help, advice and support from like minded people. I can't really discuss trading with my family/peers as no one knows what I am on about so the community looks like a great platform.
What are some of your trading goals?
Football is the main sport I am interested in trading, however tennis also looks interesting but I have not looked at this in too much detail yet. Initially, I am hoping to have a side income to supplement my full-time job, however if things go well, I wouldn't rule out full-time trading in the future!
Looking forward to getting stuck in!

Hi all.
I’m a brand new newbie. Still got my wrapping on and I’m all shiny!
I’m a Serving Police Sergeant and am due to retire on 1st May 2020. I have begun researching trading after a successful 18 months at matched betting. I like to bet on the horses occasionally and in general I win more than I lose.
Anyhow, I’m looking to start trading. I’m not greedy and do not expect to get rich! I’m simply looking to learn from the best and make some extra beer tokens each month. If I can make an extra £100-£200 per month I will be delighted.
My starting bank is £200 although I do have £2000k back just in case I need to reload a few times.
Apart from that I did my first lay the draw today and won!
This time next year Rodney.
Look forward to chatting with you all over the coming months and maybe, just maybe I may one day be considered a Pro trader and offering up advice of my own. -
@stewart-perrie totally amazing post here matey and just shows what you can do when you get stuck into the community and take it on like you have.
Well played my friend, you’ve come out the hours in and it is showing. You are on the road to becoming a very very good trader!

Good Evening from a relative newbie.
Hope this is the best place for this post.
I joined about 4-5 weeks ago.
I did the intro on here and set alerts to the main forum threads on football, horses, tennis and a few others.
I read a lot and watched the videos.
I watched a lot on YouTube.
I listened to Trading in the Zone audiobook and a cracking wee ebook Ryan has a link for on here.
The people on here are terrific. Very helpful and plenty traffic which I mainly just learn from.
The football stats blow my mind. After years trawling websites for stats, this is a lifesaver.
I gambled mainly for the past 10-12 years and was a very good bank builder. I blew every bank I ever build.in one or 2 daft bets.
NOW I am a different beast.
So I started with over 1.5mg. Nothing mind blowing. I tweaked my filters a bit and still very early in testing. Probably not too much different to Ryan's 1.5mg strategy. I just pick the games and wait 10-20 mins and either get on 1.5mg or 0.5fhg. Just small stakes as I learn my way aboot.
I also have a few other strategies I am trialling. Being a novice it is more to learn how to trade than find a strategy. What advice would a relative newbie give to a newbie.- Be patient. Impatience was formerly my greatest issue. If there is nothing jumping out with value, go do something else until something presents itself.
- Educate yourself. Read and watch videos. Ask the guys on here. So much good advice and help from people who have been in the same place us newbies are before.
- Don't bin strategies. Tweak them. Amend them. Learn from every trade. I think one of the worst things I did was found things I was good at and profited from.....and then binned them when I lost a few bets/trades.
- Be Cold. The market/team/horse is not against you. I used to rage and throw s**t about when luck went against me. The market will move how the market moves. Do not become emotionally attached to each trade. Do not rage when you lose. Learn and move on.
- Set a plan when to enter and when to exit and stick to it. If you see a losing trade that you think is a goner, get out and take the loss. It seems that the real profits are made by taking your losses before they become £0. I often had a cash out on a hopeless trade of say 50% and just said ah well that one has lost, I will just let it ride. Now I cash them. A totally different mindset. I also often cash stuff for decent profit if I get a quick goal rather than letting it ride and being greedy.
- Set a bank. Set % per trade and stick to it. That advice has been around since the dinosaurs but so many people break it. Couple of bad trades and the mist comes down and the whole bank can go in one daft moment. DON'T DO IT. It never works. I reckon I have probably built £4/500 banks from £10-£20 10-12 times.....and sadly have blown them all in moments of regrettable madness.
- Look into software. I am crap with computers. V good with excel but that's where it ends. However, I am learning to use BetOnDroid and it is terrific for putting on stuff for overnight games or if I am going to be busy during the day. After spending lots of time Matches Betting and waiting for games.to start and watching in play for odds to hit, the boys n software to automate is brilliant. Can only do very basic things but how.to get better over time.
- Keep records of all trades and profit and loss and anything else you might find useful.
I keep first goal time and amount of goals for my 1.5mg strategy. I hope by the time I have 1000 games, I have a profitable strategy. - Have fun.
Sorry, long post. Welcome any insight or advice on this as I am green to trading.
-
@stephen-arnold ok, so think about what has to happen for that to come true?
For example there has to be at least one goal - what’s that stats on that?
Home team has to concede first - what’s the stats on that?
Think about all the things.

@stephen-arnold So you want teams that come back from 1-0 after HT?
You say you are coming out of ideas as well?
no not at all , just the away team with good stats to be winning at half - time
