Morning all.
Just said hello to Twig, a new member, and mentioned how time saving excel is for logging information to refer back to.
Not sure if there is already a section on this, (apologies if there is), but I think it may be very helpful for a topic on how to get the most out of excel, help with formulas etc, updating individual sheets results to a master sheet.
I'm pretty hopeless on excel, just got the basics, and I would really appreciate any assistance to prevent my PC being launched out of the window!!
Have a belter today.
Jim.

@chris-osborne Awwww you are now added to my list of spreadsheet experts!
-
@alan-steward From first reading seems like Conditional Formatting will do a lot of what you need which is a powerful tool of used right
-
@james-heathcote-0 We can crack the code together mate

So this is a new format of spreadsheet I'm working on as I would like to have the abbreviated "League Columns" to colour automaticity as per League Conversion... On the first tab "Sheet 1" I will be looking to have a full league by league analysis which will include things like %FHG, %o1.5 (15/75mins inclusive and time to be easily edited to suit different o1.5 strats) %o1.5, %o2.5, %o3.5, %SHG (46/90+mins inclusive), %SHG (60/90+mins inclusive)
Can't think of anything else to add in there just yet

Wow, great work Alan.
I'm nowhere near your level.

I work with excel all day, if anyone needs any help let me know.
The best spreadsheets are usually the simplest, and also where manual intervention is kept to the minimum.
There are so many different ways of doing things in excel, my boss frequently says that you can give 5 people the same task, they would all complete it totally differently but invariably get the same outcome.
My goal eventually is to be able to do all of my automation via excel, I'm a million miles away as it stands, I'm knocking on a bit so didn't really use computers, the abacus was cutting edge when I was a kid! Later in life I did use excel for my job, (railways), but all the templates were already there, so I just had to type in the information and excel took care of the rest.
If you don't mind Chris, any knowledge you have to make life easier would be massively appreciated mate.

@chris-osborne Will pick your brains later mate ... Need to sort my days trading plan out and load my bot

Yes... Great idea for a thread @james-heathcote we should be able to share some interesting stuff here... Will post one of my new sheets on here later to show some new formula I'm working on

@james-heathcote-0 Hi mate I think you're right on this. I'm a newbie too but have been working (for hours and hours) on a spreadsheet to gather the information.. teaching myself various excel functions to automate the production of information as much as I can which is starting to come together. But an information share in this respect is a good idea. My starter for 10 is I've been using COUNTIFS this week to analyse a range of data looking at goal times and also to how different countries perform in my filters. Its going to save me loads of time going forward .. more experienced heads on here may have a better way. But in simple terms COUNTIFS take ranges of data.. usually in pairs and tell you how many times your question is true.. so my "question" would be for example.. how many times each country produces break even or better. Having put this in place all I have to do now is copy and paste the results of my filter from BTC in the morning onto my spreadsheet.. which contains the leagues column, make sure I record the green or red in my P&L column and the COUNTIFS function reads both of those to tell me how rubbish Bundesliga 2 is doing for me for instance  I do the same for REDS and then a percentage of each.. I'm rambling now but happy to share anything if appropriate. And most importantly the discussion here will help for sure.

Great thread!!
I know @Alan-Steward @John-Folan are decent on excel I think? There's 100% some others as well!
