difference between betfair exchange and betfair sportsbook...please enlighten me

Hello Everyone,
As some of you probably in the same situation, I currently have accounts with a few bookmakers and by now, I have obviously realised the massive difference between exchanges (like betfair) and typical standard bookmakers...Basically, If you're a losing punter, they're more than happy to take all your money but if you start being profitable, dodgy tactics begin and If you have the audacity to request a withdrawal to enjoy some of your hard earned cash, they come up with some B.S., doing everything they can to stop you.
Now, I've been a user of betfair exchange for a few months but currently consider doing some bets on the the betfair sportsbook, which often features some lower league games unavailable on the exchange
Does anyone know how the exchange and the sportsbook are related or to put it in another way, is the betfair sportsbook another dodgy bookmaker
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
