Why did the first 4 games not appear on the filters @Private-Coaching-Adam-Williams
On which filters? And what leagues did those games belong to?
Dell mentioned Australian Leagues and Championship not showing a couple of the games if that helps.

There's no real adversarial argument here, Darri. Logically, I know every thing you say is how those behind this view the benefits and attractions of this move. I'm countering what you say in the hope that I can find a reason why it wouldn't be a good idea for them to break away from a commercial perspective. Sadly, I can't find one killer reason against the move. Financially, it makes perfect sense for them to copy the franchise model of the IPL and NFL.
Let's hope that this time it is just a threat to squeeze more out of UEFA because one day I think the European Super League will happen -
@stuart-capstick its all a negotiation tool. Both for the teams and the leagues/comps. Clubs threaten to leave an leagues/comps threaten to ban. Like with most of these things compromise around money is the most likely. How much are players going to be paid with the new money proposed is that enough for them to not care about being banned? The other thing about the viewers it doesnt matter about the competition of the league, thats traditional way of thinking. The young kids and the ones who see football as a money maker its all about the biggest names. Are we now going to see ashley barnes the face of the next pepsi advert, because burnley could now do well? No it will still be the biggest names with the most relevance. Someone from asia as your example will much rather see messi vs ronaldo as opposed to wellbeck vs barnes. Those teams in those big leagues right now get funnelled the good money from the fact the big teams are in those leagues for that exposure.
Bud we are both against the idea, just have a differing view on how it would change football, thats the beauty of the game, divides opinions, lets just hope tradition wins and this gets cut before it happens.

Maybe I've misunderstood, but if they form this league, they are effectively banned from any domestic or UEFA level competition and potentially from international participation for players. Given that this product wouldn't be very attractive, at the start at least, would it, in the form it is proposed right now, even attract the market it is looking for?
So, year 1 European Super League- only top 6 in England ( including Spurs- sorry, couldn't resist), Atletico, Barca, Real, Inter, AC and Juventus. They need another 8 clubs who would experience the same sanctions. Would they even get them right now? Any league would be very much a two tier one with the only competition between 3 or 4 clubs with the rest making up the numbers. Yes, that works in other franchises, but part of the attraction world wide of the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A is the competitive nature. TV deals currently mean that a viewer in Asia can choose between watching several competitive games from those three countries as opposed to one game from this super league.
The point I'm making is that I'm sure this is, as you say, a bargaining tool to squeeze more money in any new Champions League format. -
@stuart-capstick looks like we will have to agree to disagree bud. It wouldnt affect them domestically winning wise but they also wont get the same money. Teams like salzburg, ajax, celtic, rangers only reign supreme because of the financial gaps in their leagues. You take the lucrative european money that they currently get out and it affects them massively. Their domestic prize money/league sponsors is shockingly bad. If we then have to survive on selling players we will never grow those domestic leagues enough. As i say watch how quick those bigger teams might become more interested and FOMO kicks in if this goes through. Would haaland, neymar and mbappe really still be wanting to play outside of the biggest competition? The french league without neymar and mbappe then doesnt draw the money for sponsors either and so ensues the cycle of how money would come out of the domsetic leagues. It all has a trickle down from the biggest teams. You take money out of the main revenue of the biggest leagues and comps your taking it out of the smaller leagues too. Those big teams then dont have as much money meaning lower teams then cant ask for better transfers to balance books. Celtic and rangers domestically do well for the league because they buy the good players in those leagues for above average prices. Thats because of the european funnel and from selling the good players we have to likes of southamptons and lyons. You take the money out of their pockets its blocks the big funnels to celtic and rangers to help further the trickle of money to the smallest teams. The prem deals gets lower as a package without the top six its why the top 6 games are always the ones on during the weekend. You take them out its not a good sponsors deal anymore as the millions wanting liverpool and united dont get converted to consumers anymore, just doesnt appeal to sponsors. That means if teams like southampton then get to compete it wont be for the same money. So the whole Southampton>celtic>hamilton doesnt happen. Affecting each club financially.
Its hopefully a publicity stunt mate. Like i say it will divide opinions. Frankly i couldnt care less about it im a celtic fan and only just a spurs fan (dad took me for my 16th birthday for the 9-1 game vs wigan got on match of the day as most of the 2nd half goal celebrations came to my corner, been a fan ever since) it wont affect me its just a sport, trading wont change, so really im only saying i my opinion. I may be wrong long term and this could massively help the smaller teams who now get to be competitive but for me the financial decline in prize money will make that pointless as an exchange for easier competition.

@darri
If this happens, it would have almost no effect on any leagues apart from Serie A, La Liga and the Premier League. Bayern and PSG have gained praise for ruling themselves out, so I suppose that means no clubs from other leagues are likely to participate. Admittedly, there aren't many others who would be invited: Ajax- history yes, financial clout no. Same would go for, say Porto.
The Bundesliga and Ligue 1 would have the same sponsorship deals, as would pretty much every other league.
You are right that a Champions League final (absent the "super" clubs) of say, AEK and Salzburg wouldn't have the same financial appeal, but domestically this change would not affect those clubs at all. I would be more likely to watch that game, but that's just me.
The real losers would be teams like Spurs and Arsenal; a player going to a "super" league team would cost hundreds of millions and, given the choice, they'd rather go to Barca, Real etc. Spurs and Arsenal fans would have to get used to seeing their team thrashed every week, meaning they are even less of an attraction to players.

Even if it did, it would not affect the majority of leagues (e.g. all the European summer leagues, the Asian and American (North and South)). Most European leagues wouldn't really be affected in any case as teams from those leagues would have no chance of participation.
Anyway, I think Darri is right:
https://twitter.com/SwissRamble/status/1383842188182790144?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweetNot sure i agree that it wouldnt affect the european leagues mate, sponsors, tv deals etc wont be there for the salzburg vs aek athens quarter finals. Like i say i think this is a publicity stunt to bag extra cash and to just show that change could happen to uefa. Just like what messi does with barca. Clubs spending has just risen too high and wages are now bigger and bigger, the tv deals and prize money being shared out by uefa and the domestic leagues isnt in line with those rises. Covid has brought this on even more. A franchise esq type league which if you read the articles the money for all this is from america, think of the IPL, NFL, thats what they want. You say about the asian, american leagues not caring, well im sure they would be eyeing getting the likes of boca juniors, jeonbuk, kawasaki etc asking to join or making their own equivalent once these people see the money. Like i say its either the start to change or the start to negotiations between the current teams on leagues. Football is traditionalist tho and thats why i think this will be stomped. The clubs wont be as well sought of outside of their domestic leagues and the domestic leagues cant perform well without the big teams. Its a negotiation tactic. Be funny if this goes through tho to actually how the leagues who have threatened united and city that they will be banished if they stick to it, plus how easily persuaded the big teams who have refused so far might get FOMO. I just cant see it happening at all, but its as you have seen gives football a talking point and keeps it relevant.

In some ways I think domestic football would be more entertaining. Imagine a league with Everton, Aston Villa, Leeds, Newcastle, etc. all with a chance of actually winning it.
These things do seem to come up every now and then. I mean, how much of a "super league" is it really if they're considering letting Spurs join?

@james-rome yeah i dont think it will happen, have seen that all the leagues have come out and say theyd ban those that take part from domestic football. I can see something else happening with european cups etc but this just wont work and its good to see money will hopefully not prevail here. Might just mean that those leagues and uefa will be encouraged to up prize money kind of like when messi threatens to leave barca its often for a wage increase
-
@james-rome
It'll be good for trading (as the Champions League and Europa League are).
But, it will be boring; I'd much rather have a true cup competition for both titles. It'd be more fun to see, say, Molde or Salzburg, in the quarters than the usual Barca/Real/Bayern/PSG/Juve etc
