@matt-wood Love that Way of counting ๐Ÿ˜‰ will work for me too, simple to the point and works.

Well the first one was 3K ๐Ÿ˜‰ I run the whole run, was weird it felt great 1.5K like effortless. Woke for a pee in the night wow pure pain in calves lol.

@ryan-carruthers I guess you gotta do at least 2k to be a full run ๐Ÿ™‚

I have counted paces before and it was far easier for me to only count when my right foot landed (so that would be 2 paces), count to 10, then hold out 1 finger. start again from 1, count to 10 hold out the 2nd finger. Whole hand is then 100 paces, hold out a finger on the other hand, start again with the original hand. When 2nd hand is open, 500 paces.

Helped me do it, but you might develop your own way.

@matt-wood Thatโ€™s the goal buddy ๐Ÿ˜‰ What distance do you consider a full run?

I might actually try that for my next run go out walk 500 paces run 500 great idea that!

    @ryan-carruthers Haha I wouldn't dare try it myself ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds like you are making progress though. Maybe dont jump right to runs from the walks, try something like 2/3k walk 500 paces then run 500 paces. Make this the next step on from straight walking. Might help might not, but you never know until you try it ๐Ÿ™‚

I will mega impressed if you ever do a whole run complete barefoot!!!

The 1000 mile walk looks great. I reckon Iโ€™d go close to that anyway as I just love wandering off and going walkabout.
Mrs Woody seems to be excited by it and Iโ€™m happier for her cause I was starting to see the downside of remote working by the backend of 2020 and her mental health whilst not concerning was definitely noticeable so happy to get walking in 2021. Should work well with a dry January.

@james-everard 100% agree with this, I always feel better after being outside for a walk ๐Ÿ‘

I agree WFH since MArch there are days when I dont leave the house going to make sure I do something everyday.

1000 miles a year works out at less than three miles a day so should be fine once i've got going

Best way try doing a little every day, when you mention 3miles a day it really isn't that far when you get used to it and just an hour or so out of your day. The fresh air , seeing human beings and nature really is good for your mind and the exercise is great for your heart.

@james-everard You are spot on with this mate. Mental health is as important as physical health and all exercise (tailored to the individual) absolutely helps with mental health as well as they physical aspect.

@Chris-Osborne I know what you mean. Both of us here have been WFH now for 4 years and it is so easy, especially with all the mod cons, in todays world to simply not go out of the house. Im so grateful I have the dogs as that forces me outside.

You will probably end up smashing through the 1000miles. I think the 10k steps a day for most people comes out at roughly the 5miles mark.

Really does help mate feel so much better. I think always best to do some exercise before trading for your mindset

So glad the gyms have stayed open here, (feel bad for those of you in tier 4). Probably would have gone full Michael Douglas a la Falling Down in Ross on Wye had they shut my gym again ๐Ÿ˜‚

Not jealous much lol canโ€™t see them reopening here for a while to be honest. As I canโ€™t go swimming anymore and need to do something, signed up for this

Feel your pain, i haven't been to the gym since March . keeps on opening and shutting and couldn't be bothered with restarting memberships for it it to be locked down again a couple of weeks later.
I have been doing a lot of walks though in the last few months, mainly the Essex coast( fact of the day surprisingly Essex has the longest coastline in the Uk) The fresh air really does help and being with nature is great for your mentality

I think I would have to if I was you. I'm really lucky my gym has stayed open, especially as Ive really got into my training again after the first enormous lockdown. Moved away from the heavy weights and started with a much more focused volume approach. Much easier on my joints ๐Ÿ˜‚

Just looked at that it looks great. You will be surprised how fast the miles start piling up if you do it regularly. I walk the dogs twice a day so that works for me. Get yourself an Audible subscription (if you have not already) and listen to some books as you're doing it or podcasts.

I bet you will rack up the distance really quickly and it is excellent exercise for us. ๐Ÿ‘

@ryan-carruthers Yea its a great exercise and healthy shoulders SHOULD be able to cope with it. Trouble is it is a tough exercise and that means our body will want to cheat as much as possible resulting in injuries.

I hate shoulders, when I used to do my sports injury bit they were my nightmare client since there is sooooooo much stuff going on in a shoulder joint and it is all small fiddly little things that are so easily injured.
