For those wondering about the choice of products on offer (feckin loads) I remember seeing the independant lab tests and the Impact Whey or Diet Impact Whey are probably best value for money.
For vegans the pea protein isolate is more pricey but is good quality.Isolates tend to be easier on the digestion than non-isolate.
As a general rule for those buying protein powder anywhere, always pay attention to the ingredients. If they say something along the lines of 'proprietary blend' or similar wording be a little suspicious and research further.
For any nerds out there more interested check the website supplementlabtest.com. Probably other similar websites out there too.
General warning to those using whey powders, abuse them at your own risk, you WILL s**t your brains out daily if you do

@martin-futter The other thing is that sugar substitutes aren't much better for you, so in this day and age you are stuffed unless you go vegan ( who the hell would do that). The good thing is it goes take much to cut down and thats where you get the benefits. Also I can trick my brain into thinking fermented sugars don't count....:smiling_face_with_halo:

@mark-gorton the crazy thing with sugar is how many foods it is added to that you would never expect. I have to be careful with it as it has a really strong fatigue and irritable effect on me, not to mention a scarily high fast rate I get from it!

Just hit 60 this year and sugar is the white devil....trained hard all my life ( ex military) and play just as hard. I would train 5 days a week, and ate/drank sugar in all its forms.... Had a big scare at 55 and although I was fit as a butchers dog, the sugar and chemicals I put into my body negated the hard work. As a result now have cut out sugar and caffeine and feel a lot better, training isn't as hard (at my level now) on my body and I feel more alert. Still have treats but don't crave which is the best feeling.

Back at the gym this week, Iāve done 3 decent sessions, it felt really good to be back. Iāve definitely got bad DOMS so the second Upper day with aching muscles was tough!
Iāve realised how much sugar Iāve been consuming and have massively cut down on it. Itās not so much a weight issue, just a general āputting too much crapā in your body. Itās amazing how much more I craved it when Iād had some, having cut it out I donāt crave it as much
Also switched to IFāing this week. Again not so much a weight issue as Iām trying to gain some muscle back, I just quite enjoy thinking less about food. Only took a day or two to stop the morning hunger. Iām not overly strict as Iāll still have milk in coffee, or with times but generally about 8 hours eating window

@dan-mackinnon We played some Departmental 5 a side 6 or 7 years ago 25 years after my football retirement - one torn thigh muscle after a few weeks put me back into permanent football retirement.
Now the Gyms are back open, been swimming a couple of times this week with another lane booked later today

@matt-wood I wish I could blame it on the standard of football! I thought I was staying relatively healthy over lockdown but turns out there's lots of tiny muscles that don't like to show themselves until you're in agony the next morning. It's all a bit fun at the end of the day
